Hi Ghost,

How funny, On this model the port side was also higher than the starboard side.

The problem is that i'm already working on the replacement of the panels to straighten the hull.
I'll post some pictures of it later on.

By the way, the construction was pretty strong, so i was able to put a lot of aggrassion in demolishing the hull.

Greetings Josse

Hello guys,

Here's a photo-update.

The stern with the new side-plates.

The stem is also getting the right shape.

These are the colours for the hull.
The lighter colour is coming above the surface.

The bottom-plates are being placed right now.

The stem with some new plates.

And last, but not least, a overall view of the model.
This picture is taken yesterday.

That's it for now.

Greetings Josse

you have reached the "holy i have a boat" stage, this is one build i have subscribed to as progress seems to be pretty swift.

for propulsion are you using asipods? or standard shafts?

Hello guys,

The hull has been polyestered!!!!!!!!!!
The hull isn't yet really smooth, and it's even less smooth after applying the polyester, but the result now is better than on my previous model, so i'm happy with it!!!

Hi Ghost,

There are coming 2 asipods under the stern.
The real ship has 2 asipods under the stern, 1 retractable asipod under the bow, and 2 tunnel bowthrusters in the bow.
On my model only 1 of the 3 pieces of propulsion in the stem will be working.
The retractable asipod isn't going to be build at all.
The second tunnel bowthruster will be build, but by which way do i not yet know.

Greetings Josse

just use a piece of pipe, though I think a second bow thruster unit will be better.

having 2 at 40% power will be quieter than one at 80% power, as they are quite noisy. you have a BIG model and will need plenty of power to shove it sideways, and a bow thruster revving its balls off will spoil it.

Hi Ghost,

The bowthruster doesn't use a normal propeller.
It's a tunnel with some sort of rudder in it which is directly attached to the engine, and when that blad is going to turn it produces power.
During a test in the water (before the bowthruster has been placed) appeared that these units are quiet end really very powerful.
I don't think i need an extra one.

Hello guys,

Here are some pics of the work today.

The stern after some grinding.

The bow also is grinded a bit, but it's not yet enough.

And an overal view.

A picture of the test of the bowthruster.
It's clearly visible that the bowthruster is pretty powerful.

Tweety, my dear birdy, used my model as a playground.

well I thaught that they wouldn't be that noisy, however the vibration from the motor travels down the tube and into the hull, making the entire sydney star hull to vibrate. and I run mine on 6v.

I wander why rabosch ones are quieter than Graupner ones.

Those are some great pictures of your bird in your hull. I guess that's one boating bird.

Hello Trawlerlover,

Thanks for the compliment.

Don't think the bird is a boating bird.
She's to nice to let her escape while sailing with my model.
I don't know if she wants to escape, for she is resceud by my brother while sitting in the grass, almost dead, so she might have a fear for going outside, but i'm not going to take that risk.

Hello Guys,

The work on grinding needs to wait till saturday because i only have time when it is dark, and i don't have a place inside where i can grind.

The bilge was for enough grinded to be able to attach the bilgekeels.
And so i did.
Just after the bilgekeels were placed i've turnt the hull around so that the bilgekeels wouldn't be the lowest part of the model.

One of the holes for the bowthruster is re-opend.
It was closed with glassfiber, but not anymore.

Hi 777, This is how I built my plug for Star Purseus, I made the hull out of polystryrene and plaster, then cast a matting and resin hull over it, this is just the start.
