That was probably me flying the Piggy. My buddy Dave from my old club in Platteville designed and built that sucker. She's interesting to fly - but sure gets the looks!

The RC Superhero was also brought by one of our crew. It only flew a couple of times since it was far heavier than the weight limit for the dome. But, they were allowed a couple of flights. Here's the video that they posted:

Looking good Jim and Eli! nice hovering around! I think the 57" RcSuperhero would "feel" more at home in a confined space though. GT

I am ready for 2011 - 2012 indoor season

Just got done today with 2 new indoor aircraft for this coming indoor season.. just hope I make it out more than twice this year.

Tore apart both of my home made designs and put together 2 of the Fancy Foam kits I got a deal on when they were changing ownership.

One Osiris, and a vantage... Now I just want to use the rest of my indoor gear to build either a MX2 or a Yak 55 - for the more 3D style flights... so if anyone has a spare MX2 kit let me know, I have enough equipment left for one more indoor aircraft... but the only spare motor I have now is the AXI 2204/54 ... not sure if that has enough pull for the MX2, may get a hacker motor. Anyways here are a few photos.

Hi Guys,

Pass the word. The indoor flying season at Carl Traeger Middle School in Oshkosh kicks off November 13th.

RC will mix with free flight, like last season. Helis will have the smaller gym, or that corner of the gym if the curtain is open, just like last season.

There will be a $5 per pilot charge each Sunday.

72 MHZ Frequency control will be in effect (clothespins--like last season).

See the schedule at:

http://www.wrcf.rchomepage.com/Indoo...doorFlying.htm

Printable Word schedule below.

See you there!

Indoor Flying-Oshkosh-Starts November 9th!

Hi All,

Indoor RC and rubber powered free flight flying at Carl Traeger Middle School gym in Oshkosh starts November 9th!

Pilot fee still $5. Spectators are free. Kids 12 and under fly free.

Hours: 10 AM to 3:00 PM.

From 2:15 PM to 3:00 PM each Sunday, we will be turning the lights off in the gym for "night flyers". So bring your Night Vapors, and other lighted aircraft. If night flying proves popular enough, we will expand the time to 2:00 PM-3:00 PM.

There are gaps in the schedule, so please study it carefully. See the schedule at:

http://www.wrcf.rchomepage.com/Indoo...oorFlying.html

Thanks to Hobbytown USA for providing insurance coverage again for us this year.

Thanks,

Dave Hable

I have two boxes of rubber-powered aircraft dying to fly but they refuse to do so when electric-powered aircraft are in the air. How about reserving some time for rubber-powered aircraft?

You don't have to fly free flight while RC planes are in the air. We don't do that. The proven method for RC and for rubber powered free flight planes that we use is as follows:
  1. To the extent possible, the free flight guys get together to wind their planes, then start edging out onto the floor. (Sometimes only one FF guy is ready to fly.)
  2. Any RC guys who are flying at that point in time bring their planes down to the floor to wait for the FF guys to fly.
  3. The FF guys retrieve their planes after landing.
  4. The RC guys go back up.

We've flown that way for the last 3 years, and it works. Everyone cooperates. Everyone flies within a couple minutes of when they want to fly, and are ready to fly. No one sits around for 15 or 30 minutes waiting for his type to take over the floor. We can't determine how many FF vs. RC guys there will be at any given hour of any given Sunday, making it impractical for us to "schedule" specific times. On some Sundays, we've had as few as 2 FF guys flying. Scheduling just for them would not be fair to the RC guys.

This method works. It allows for the most people the most flexibility for the most time. No one is slighted. Everyone flies, and flies virtually as much as they want to fly. We will keep it.

Bring your boxes and you'll find a whole bunch of free flight guys who'd like to fly with you.

Carl Treager Indoor System

I can second Dave's comments on how well it works. All RC pilots are very respectful of standing down (landing) when the FF gang is ready to launch. It is actually fun to relax and watch!

Out of all the indoor sites I have been to in the state, I think the Carl Treager set up is by far the best (and biggest). This is coming from the guy who flys a 45 inch 4 motor B-17 that turns (rolls) as slow as the full size one! We are very fortunate to have it right here in the Fox Valley.

My preference would be to fly for a half hour every other week when rubber-powered flyers can have the floor to themselves. Giving the floor to night flyers for 45 minutes and forcing rubber-powered flyers to impose themselves on the electric flyers strikes me as being somewhat ludicrous!
I have no desire to become involved in a pointless discussion about gym size but the gym at Wisconsin Rapids is both wider and longer than the Oshkosh gym.
The first night of flying at Wisconsin Rapids is Oct 17. 'Rapids', here I come...
Best wishes to everyone for an enjoyable indoor season.

Bring Your "For Sale" Items to Indoor Flying in Oshkosh

Hi All,

We've decided to open up a "Buy, Sell, Trade" table at indoor flying in Oshkosh. Sort of like a mini swap meet every Sunday.

If you'd like to bring something in to sell, please have a price tag and your name on it so others know who is selling what. Sales are all up to the individuals involved.

The table is located just inside the gymnasium, along the wall. If we need more room, we can place items on the floor, so long as what you place on the floor will not damage the floor, and it is out of the way of foot traffic.
