FVK bandit vs. Simprop lift off xs

can't make up my mind between these two mini hotliners.
planning to power them with a magnetic mayhem, 2.8 inline gearbox, 12x10 folder, 7-8 cells.
which one is a better quality glider ? which one is faster ? more aerobatic ? in which one would the power plant i'll use work better ?

thanks, Oded.

Hey oded, you have mentioned the Simprop Lift off several times and I can't find it on the Simprop web site. Out of curosity, I would like to see something about it. ¿Can you give us a link? -gyro-

take a look at the following site : http://www.simprop.de/index.htm

press on the "Neuheiten" on the upper left corner and than on the "Neuheiten 2000" and than on the "lift off xs" (down the page).
good luck & let me know if it works.

Oded.

Here's a direct link to that page. It looks like a Nike at first, but the tails are different and the colors are reversed.

Yes it does look like a nike at first glance, but it has a cruciform tail, non glue on wing tips, and it appears that it has a deeper more angular canopy and whoever did the color scheme copyied the nike...a color scheme that is very poor if you ask me, when you put bars, stars, blocks or whatever on the bottom to contrast the white you lose a lot of contrast between top and bottom especially in overcast conditions. this has led to many rather tense moments.... broke out the krylon fusion paint and solved that problem!!!!!!

actually the simprop lift off xs is an older model than the nike...
Jurgen Helig reviewed the lift off xs for electric flight magazine (UK), the review was very positive.

simprop products are very high quality.

which one of the liftoff's is the closest match to the bandit? The xxs or the xs?

And do both models have aeleron, rudder, elevator control?

1.9m Liftoff $179 pounds ($292.00 US)

62" Liftoff XS $129 ($210 US)

48" Liftoff XXS $99 ($162 US)

The bandit does not have a rudder it has ailerons, elevator and throttle only. The bandit is right inbetween the xs and xxs wingspan wise....

Prices from Galaxy's site are in UK pounds

I checked the Galaxy Models website, and the prices are listed in UK Pounds.

The value of the Pound is approximately $1.63, so the prices listed in the pictures Fiasco kindly posted roughly equate to:
1.9 M Lift Off = $292.00
Lift Off XS = $210.00
Lift Off XXS = $162.00

Galaxy's website says that they charge overseas shipping at cost.

It has always been a mystery to me why no one in the USA carries the Simprop line of planes. Sure would be nice though if someone would.

subliminal message... There is a business opportunity for some enterprising person here....

It looks like Great Planes may have some sort of relationship with them. I found a few of the Simprop park flyer type planes on their site as well as the Tower Hobbies and Hobby Lobby sites. As you say, it's a mystery.

And if you want something more modern than the Lift Off series, there is still the Excel Competition 2 and the Mini Excel. Jürgen
