The Dragon kites are popular and we got one at the local Costco that is about that size.

They should have used clear fins on the tail.
Looks like a slow stick - clear tail would have been better for sure...

Is anyone making a FFF bird out there?

It seems like the building stopped

I might try a seagull

Hey Lee
How's the cutting going so far? What's the update on the other prototypes you were trying to make adjustments on? I know it's not easy...

We had an emergency on another product line that affects what we are doing here. I'm building like crazy trying to get everything done.

We have had flutter and a spar failure on a different wing. What we are learning there is affecting the designing I'm doing here and may help with the ultimate goal.

Don't give up on me. This is one of my pet projects.

I rebuilt my fuse recently, but I'm still using the old wings for now. I made a mount for my camera I'm pretty happy with that uses velcro to hold it in place.

I built the fuse from Dollar Tree foam, then covered it with Polycrylic and coffee filters (and idea I got from Springer). It gave it a lot of strength and looks better than the packing tape I used last time. I've already had it in the air and she is flying good. I may redo the wing at some point, but it still works well so I'm working on other projects for the moment.

Lee,
did y'all resovle the issue y'all had with one of the wings that were giving you flutter and spar failure?
Just doing a periodic check.

We have gone with both top and bottom full length spars and are considering the laminate we use on our other planes to increase strength. The last prototype was very strong so that is not the issue anymore. There is something with the swept forward wing that is inconsistent in flight. I have the birds (planes) out and look at them almost every day. The flat foam wings are not going to have all of the dynamics that the thick airfoils have but we might need to go back to a thin wing to get the aerodynamics right.

This is something New..... what do you think?! So far to my understanding, these are two models they have, I may be wrong though.
It's by RCwildwings. I would like to get my hands one of these things, but they haven't a brushless/lipo set up yet, but will in the future.

Enjoy!

Kite construction. I've seen kites with similar construction (e.g. dragon kite) adapted for powered flight like this.
