thanks G-LO !
i guess it can fly with a motor too, the biggest problem of my prototype is that u loose efficiency on the aileron axis when you aint got enough speed, so a motor should help i think.
concerning a non polyhedral wing, thats what i wanna try on the 2 coming wings, to try to make it look a bit more realistic; i ll let you know when its build!

i cant resist showing you the model that gave me the envy to try a "real bird look like model". a real jewel from a french modelist:

Test Buse RC (1 min 35 sec)

his model wingspan is 1m30 and its weight is 650g. overloaded i guess to fly in every conditions

Thanks for posting those pics and video. That is absolutely the best and most realistic flying RC bird model I've seen! EXCELLENT!

hi tom!

i also think that its probably the most realistic bird of prey on the net!
if you want to know more about the way it's build, here is the link to the thread where omega38 present it (the thread is not dedicated to his model, but he gives some info during it):

http://www.modelisme.com/forum/aero-...pace-rc-3.html

another interesting link with a lot of photos and informations on real birds that can make a solid working base for those who wanna try realistic birds models (here the page on the red kite which is my subject):

this kind of control on the wing has the same effects that classicals ailerons, inakakoubou says its the only way to make it turn because there s no vertical fin.

its mix with the tail to be more efficient: for a left turn, on the left wing aileron gets up while flap gets down, nothing happen on the right wing but the left elvator get up while the right elevator gets down.

it works pretty well, u can make complete circles easily, i v got a real control of the flight

Amazing Albatross

Hi Robert,

That looks great and flys really well, I am impressed with your design skills and your roll control solution with the leading edge surface, I guess it creats more drag on the down going wing?
Hope to see more of the Albatros in the future,

Cheers

regards to all,

Al

EPP Eagle Modifications

After the loss of my third 160% EPP Eagle all from a uncontrolled dive of death I think a redesign is required. Up to now have used the standard 2 channel 120 deg dual rudder elevator diven from below.

This possibly is a weak link as air pressure in a dive acts aginst up elevator possibly bending the puishrod.

Was think of changing the design so the tail is angled down rather than up ie and invert of the normal design. Has this been tried before?

Yes it has. But on a FFF plan eagle. I'm not sure its the same tho. But that guy's bird flew quite well. I'll see if I can find it.

I have lost my bird too...on top of the near by school. The only thing that the head custodian recovered was the wings..
