Apart from less frictional loss from the tail drivetrain, are the main gear ratios different on the two helis?

I know where you are going. The main gear has the same pitch and tooth count as the SE. In fact I am using the same pinion used on the SE.

Ditto on tracking. I guess we can thank the rigid spindle for that. From the manual, it says it has rubber bushings. While fiddling with the head, it felt like it had ball bearing. Whatever they are, they are pretty stiff.

I had a blast this morning doing 10 foot flips. I also loved doing fast stall turns. The heli goes vertical higher now thanks to the faster speed. Can't wait to fly again this weekend

Hey I do that too! I use my work car bonnet and roof as a landing pad, sharpens the reflexes sliding sideways onto the bonnet and hitting ground effect

Gino where were you flying? Open fields like that are a luxury in Manila.

It finally got windy today and exceptionally strong. The Black Angel loved the wind. I did not get the surprising abrupt altitude changes in fast forward flight. Backwards flight was equally pleasant. I attribute this to a slop-free head and the stiff rubber bushings for the spindle (perfect tracking).

Equally impressive were my funnels. Cutting across strong crosswind the tail remained robust with no struggle. I just hear the tail blade pulse a bit. But the tail was predictably locked on. Fantastic. I guess the carbon fiber tail blades and direct belt drive were doing their jobs.

I got that Gazaur Posiden today and put some gear in it ive been sittin on and spun it up. Even though i dont really care for the direct driven tail setup and the 2 little idler pullys this is actualy pretty smooth.

The main shaft is bent so i wont be flying it anytime soon but it does give me an idea on how that type of setup works.

I guess i shouldnt of based my opinions on this design around the king V2. That heli had this type of setup and it was a drag master. Maybe that heli was just full of alot of cheap junk bearings. It just seem like a poor design

This Gazaur frame sure is a pain to work on, nothing is laid out for working on. It seems like its all just built for looks.
