The sun came out at 3:00 today and I was at the field at 3:30 but the wind

was still up Around 18 to 20 mph but I was there........ And it may be weeks

till I can get back out There.......lol (at least that is what I told my self) any

way I got a friend to tosss the AMX For me and the clime out was fine but

way touchy on ailerons at low rates and the AMX Did not like the high winds

at all. Turns were way scary it was very cloudy and the dark

Color on the nose made it hard to see, for my old eyes any way.

Oh yea the mystery bumps must go where I put them because after a long

skid there was no sign of any damage at all on the bottom of the jet just

some grass stains on two of the bumps.

Going to try on a calm day next time

congrats John!
Might you divulge what you have your throws set at and what holes you've set your control arms into? (Same goes for you, Jon!!! Whattcha using??) I'm about half-way built after taping the belly, leading edges of the wings and horizontals and installing carbon rods a-la Jon's review. Also "secured" the ESC and Elevator wires with velcro/tape. I plan to use some SAPAC F-16 belly pans to protect things further.

I CAN CONFIRM THAT THE FOAM BULDGES ARE TO PROTECT THE BELLY. (I emailed Jalin...) I just don't think foam bubbles will last long or help much in the long run.

I'm seriously considering running an elevon setup so as to dedicate the wing surfaces to flaps-only duty.

I haven't carved out any foam to make room for a bigger batt yet...but I will eventually (probably after maiden).

J-Power needs to use slightly bigger shipping boxes to afford more room between the sidewalls and the model as the nose and tail have some slight crush damage on them.

After a brief test, motor sounds good and servos seem happy.

I set up throws as per instructions low rates at about 1/8 in but I never

Went to low rates, control rods were in the second from the top hole.

This plane slows down so well that I see no need to add flaps, just cut

Power and drop down to about one foot off the deck and raze the nose she

Will just flop to the ground with a slight skid to a stop.

I was a little unhappy with the speed though, my phase 3 f-16 is much faster.

So I may be looking for some hop ups any suggestions motor and fan or just

motor?

I just started working on the airframe only kit and have one question as it came with no instructions. What is the recommended CG? I'm using Don's motor and Alfa EDF out of a crashed F-16. It looks like the nose cone from the F 16 is a perfect fit. It may help with not so perfect landings. I may WBPU and glass the belly also.

Jason of Hobby Lobby asked me to remind you guys that when you feel the need for MORE speed on these birds, they have everything you need:

Hotter Motor

Hotter Fan Unit

Rotor Plug for 3mm shaft

Hotter Speed Control

No experience on that one!!! (I'd say yes?)

I've got to call HL on Monday....I've noticed my fan has been rubbing the shroud (static runs) and one blade has 2 issues: a "ragged" end (not clean) and a small chip out of the trailing edge.

Also noticed that the ragged blade is shorter than the others when referencing its distance fron the shroud.

What do you folks think???

here's a gripe...

hey all...

As i've only done static runs with guts and wires and batts hanging out, I've only just noticed a "small issue"...I can't close the friggin canopy over the stock batt cuz the wire leads are poking up-and-out of the battery in such a way as to prevent the canopy from being able to close (by a fair amount, at that). Has anyone else experinced this???

The canopy fits well up until you put in the battery. Looks like I need to cut. These issues really get me stewing.......

Stuff the battery wires/connectors down into the hole at the front of the battery compartment, the one that the battery power lead comes up through.
