How about the eurofighter airframe only for twin edf's?? Thats what I'd buy. But they dont offer it.

Just opened my AMX. Here's a couple of nice surprises from the last/first HL batch...

If you will look on the bottum of the plane you will see 4 flat spots one in front that is

on the blue paint and three ( 2 on the sides and one at the very back of the tail)

that or yellow the bumps or skids to hold the plane up and protect the rear servo

arms ... just my guess.

One thing I wonder about is why the blue paint has a gloss and the rest of the jet is

in a flat finish.....looks dumb to me so I bought some Minwax water based polycrylic

(protective finish) clear gloss and put a coat on every thing now it shines

like a new dollar...lol. Ill get some picks as soon as its dry.

Lets get 'em in the air men!

Did you just brush the poly on??? Does it harden up nice??? I was about to begin taping the belly but I may go to Home Depot instead???

And did you just poly the lower half/belly or did you coat the whole thing?

I brushed the whole thing caus I did not like the shiny front and the dull

back of the jet. I got this minwax polycrylic at wally world paint department

kind of high though about $8.95 for 8oz but its water based and drys in

30:00 to 40:00 min

I have other foam planes and the dull paint gets very dirty where the gloss

paint stays clean.

And if you want this minwax polycrylic comes in a spray can too

But does it harden enough to be a decent protection for belly landings?!!!??

I often airbrush WBPU (Minwax Polycrylic for exapmple) onto my planes ... it does not provide the protection of fiberglass but it goes on easy, dries quick, and provides a little extra protection. To really protect the belly, you need some clear tape such as the 3M autotape I used (but cannot seem to source now! ). Others use chassis protector tape, such as is used on RC cars. OR you can use clear packing tape.

I landed my HOT AMX in a muddy field the other night, picked it up and wiped all of the mud and stains off with a damp rag.

One other tape you could look into is the 3M EXTREME packing tape? I bought a roll at Staples this past week for my Multiples Blizzard. It almost looks like white carbon fiber? It would probably make a good belly protector for the AMX too.

I was a paint contractor for 32 years and one thing i know is any finish you use is

only as tuff as what you put it on ...put it on pine its not to tuff put it on oak and it

last for years this stuff is made as a finish for wood like varnish and its very

tuff as long as you dont land in a sand lot as in sand paper or in a gravel pit,

but on grass you shuld be ok.
