Same setup as my 1/72 S-100 will make it fly, 3 gws 12mm diameter motors on a 10 amp plane speed control
Calculated displacement of 188 grams, may be a little too much plastic. I had to shave the hull of the Schnell boat to reach the target weight of 340 grams

thanks a lot nick...i think for this yacht i'll need a simple radio system with 1 receiver 1 servo for rudder and 2 motors with shafts and props...
can i use one esc for my 2 motors or it's ok to convert two servos?

In the S-100 I run 3 motors off the one esc and also the receiver and servo through its BEC. I used a 6 channel receiver but only 2 functions, it was smaller and lighter than the 2 channel receivers I have I haven't used a reversing esc.
If you do run 2 motors, I would have a 2 rudders as well and make them much bigger than scale, at scale size, even 3 scale rudders dont turn the boat well.
I actually only have 1 large rudder now but because its in the prop wash of the center prop it works OK.
Regards
Nick

I did the Revell 1:48 Swift and used two motors and a dual motor controller. No rudder control was used. The Swift is a very light boat. I don't have the weight of the model handy but it was nearly at a scale waterline.
Check out the build...

Here are some pics from the testshot!
I am still waiting for a testhull and will do it with rc also.

Another product from Germany is the HERPA "CATWALK" scale 1/87. Also interesting for rc, but a little bit heavier than the Predator.

I think it will be 'do-able'. No idea about it's weight, so that might be worth looking into (put it on a diet!). Otherwise, it sounds like there's plenty of room to fit things into it. Good luck!

The specs on the ads put it at about 17 1/2", which is about the same size as the Tamiya Vosper that my friend from New Zealand did up with a Tamtech conversion back in 1991---.

Doable in 2008, with all the advances in technology? No question---.

That's also the same size as the Dumas Carol Moran which is made for RC. It'll be a great looking RC boat.
