thanks phuffstatler..i was thinking on makint it AET...but i dont have the correc actuators..i only have DU coils.

I was thinking doing the following..

make a loop in a little wire, inserte the actuator magnet in the loop and the insert this assy in the coil....the...the ends of the wire (1 and 2) would go directly to the aileron horns...so the magnet with the wire is suspended inside the coils....supported by the aileron horns....see the pic below...you´ll get a better idea

BTW nice pic

That's an interesting idea, but it would be hard to adjust, I think. There are some threads dealing with how make different type of adapters for the stock DU's. I think there is an article is RCMicroFLight witrth some other dedsign ideas.

bigger?

I believe mine is the Hobbico version. I picked it up at the local hobby shop.

Heck, it may be the 18" version... I can't remember...

Shucks!

there is a p51 that greg covey ..

did a conversion on that is 14" wingspan and used the rffs but is not a hobbico;

others have done the hobbico;

i thought phil's looked like greg's but i dont know for sure;

it would be nice to be able to use the rffs in a 18" hobbico though i thought it wouldn't be powerful enough;

There seems to be a lot of confusion, and I think there are more than one Hobbico P-51 that we're talking about.

The RFFS/KP-00/LiPoly Mustang conversion that several people did was on what I bought in a blister-pack marked 'Fun Flight' for $6. It was a 14" WS, 6 to 8 grams gutted, rubber-band free-flight. The exact same model, complete down to the paint and decals, was referred to as the 'Hobbico' by others, some in Europe.

Now it appears that there is possibly another, bigger one as well.

Still another Mustang that got comverted, but to micro conventional gear, is the Cox 'Viper' at 20" WS and ~1 ounce airframe weight.

In this small a model, the differences in size and weight could be significant.

p51

Mine came in a box, not a blister pack, so very likely is the larger 18" version we're talking about...

Mine weighed in at just under two ounces ready to fly w 4x50 nicads, so most likely is the bigger one....

Still did just fine.....

Have a great one!
