Just got back from the little park across the street, put 6 packs through the 47" Edge.

This airplane flies so light and floaty it was no problem to fly slow, low harrier circles around me in about a 30 ft. circle. No upright wing rock at all. Very stable and it does just what you tell it to do. Hovers very easy on the light 3s setup. It is my new 3s park flyer for sure.

Wow!!!!

I just snuck in two gentle flights on my Edge. This is the perfect plane for me right now.

I've also flown the PA 40" Addiction and the 3DHS 55" SHP for several months. The Addiction is great and fly’s sooooo easy that it makes any idiot look good (including me ). It is a great 3D primer. However, this is a low energy plane, and I struggle to make it do any tumbling maneuvers well. I recently dumb thumbed into the ground for the last time, but in all likelihood will replace this plane with another Addition soon. The 55" SHP is awesome. I will lock itself into stable Harriers at different attitudes and speeds. It will do every 3D maneuver in the book...in capable hands (not necessarily mine). For me, I'm still somewhat intimidated by this plane's size and weight. When you are throwing 5 lbs around, you need to plan ahead as the plane does carry some momentum. But this plane is very stable in Harriers too. It will definitely tumble like you won't believe. I'm on the V2 of this plane after flying the V1 SHP for many months, so I obviously like it a lot. This is a plane that I hope to grow into and master with more time. The SHP is now my second favorite plane after the 47" Edge.

I got to fly the Edge in more moderate conditions today. Last week I got two flights in on a blustery day that threw every plane around mercilessly. Today I got to see how stable this plane Harriers. I was able to dial it around like I knew what I was doing. I think that this plane will be the perfect compromise between the Addiction and the SHP. Plus, it is too fun! I'll get to fly the plane a lot tomorrow, so I'll report in then. I have a feeling that this will be the first plane I'll want to grab in the morning and the last one to fly at the end of the day.

P.S. Ben and Scott, you guys did another great job!!!!

chribrian, have you talked to Ben of 3DHS? My 2 cents: I LOVE the Edge! But haven't flown the Extra myself. I've heard that the Edge is more stable in Harrier mode.

No I have not spoke with Ben. The problem I have is they both look awesome, but with having the slick already I do not want to get a lesser plane. I have no idea which would be the best compliment to my Slick.

I think the Edge fits that bill. The Edge spins and rotates quicker than the SR. It also harriers easier, both ways.
The SR has great dampening and a little less pitch authority. Both are great planes. We've had SRs and currently have Slicks and the 40", 47" and 55" Edge.
For my style (read none) I prefer the Edge to the SR.

I have been leaning towards the edge. In the vids It looks more stable than the sr and you confirmed it. Thanks for your input

I've had both and I prefer the Edge. Seems to fit my style better. Perfect upright stability. Wonderful walls. Hovering is a breeze on this plane for me compared to the SR. Just my 2 cents.

How do you compare the 47" Edge to the Slick? Thanks. Matt

Matt,

I'll start by saying these 2 planes can't go head to head for comparision.
Due to the Slick's size and weight it's in a different class than the 47" planes. There is much more going on than just 4" of wing. The Slick is huge next the 47" Edge and 16oz heavier. My 47" Edge is 3s with an AUW of 43oz. My Slick is 4s @ 59oz.
The Slick is in a class of it's own but would be better compared to the 55" Edge.

That said, these two share a lot in the air. Both rotate quick but I think the 47" Edge wins.
Both track awesome but the Slick wins. You could set you radio down and have lunch. Yes, it's that good.
Both harrier perfect IMHO. Any wing rock you see in my videos is the pilot. At times I think I could induce wing rock in a blimp.
So far the Slick wins for violent, sustained tumbles. When it tumbles it will stop moving forward and pinwheel 2-3 times. The Edge tumbles hard & rotates quick but runs out of energy real quick, about 1 rotation. As I move the CG that may change.
They both fly KE and HAKE great.
Both hover great but I over rotate the Edge when I enter. I have to make a few quick elevator inputs to get it vertical. Again, CG will change this.

I'm going to fly them both a bunch tomorrow. I'm flying the Edge a bit aft of neutral CG so I'll be adjusting and comparing.
