nice, thanks Vet. I' sure this will be fun to fly but i bet it will be even nicer with some heavy modifications... i'm already thinking of a complete over hall like i did with the avenger. whats nice about this one is that its probably small enough for a single phase BL motor to replace the 4mm thats probably in it. that will be good for some extra power, lower current, and lower weight.

My cats' mouths are watering in anticipation already from looking over my shoulder at the video just now. So far, the only indoor aircraft I can sustain flight with in my house is a Havoc Heli. I need at least a hall or gymnasium for the others.

Take a look at the Air Hogs Avenger thread in this forum, it's REALLY easy to fly in an average-sized living room. Looking at the DaVinci video it actually look a little too fast for flying in a small space, it appears to have about the same flight envelope as the Vamp (IE, will fly circuits in 12'x12' area but that's about it). The Avenger will easily change directions in an area smaller than the Vamp can only fly circuits in.

Also take a look at the Blade MCX threads on the Multi Rotor Helis forum. There is nothing that compares to the MCX, it is insanely fun to fly and can do just about anything in an area the size of a closet.

Lastly, I don't have one yet (it's on the way), but I've been reading that the Vapor is also an outstanding living room flyer. Get all 3 and you'll have a plane, orni and heli to fly in your house all winter long

The Da Vinci does look quite fast, might have to mod it a bit for slower flight.

Yeah the Vapors are fantastic! Get one and you will agree

Speed shouldn't be a problem if fairly precise control and maneuverability are there. That's the problem with the dragonfly and vamp. They can't turn tight enough to fly in the rooms of my house and still maintain altitude.

BTW, I don't have any indoor planes, just ornis and helis - the BladeRunner did okay in the house too.

"Constructed with an onboard rechargeable lithium polymer battery, the
MAV Ornithopter can obtain up to 7 minutes of flying time off a quick 5 minute
charge from the controller."

That's a refreshing change....

release date?

Their press release dated September 2008 says that the Da Vinci will be sold at major retailers in 2008. I sent them an e-mail... let's see if I get a reply.

Thanks Boyd, that sounds more realistic...

I didn't expect them to release it before Christmas, not this late anyhow.
