Lipo Battery Connectors

I received some batteries today and two had the JST plugs 360mah 11.1v and balanced plugs and two had deans plugs 500mah 11.1v. and balance plugs . Can I use the same Jst plugs on both batteries? Wondering about the wire thickness and plug type conductivity. Can I cut wire lengths to get rid of wire weight? How about making an JST to DEAN adapter. Thanks Ron

The contacts in the JST connectors are rated at 2 Amps, the Dean's Ultras (not the Minis) are rated at about 41 Amps or more.

The wire is also a limiting factor. The ampacity of different gauges of wire can be seen here (rule of thumb, some variation will occur):

http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm

Are there any "C" rating on the batteries? A 15C 360 mAh battery would be good for 5.4 Amps and a 15C 500 mAh batter for 7.5 Amps. What kind of loads are you planning to apply to the batteries? The peak or max amperage stated in the description for the motors or whatever?

And the wire size? Is that marked on the wire?

I think I'm right about the 2 Amp rating on the JST contacts but am not positive about it. At any rate, I seem to think that maybe the JST contacts are routinely used at over 2 Amps in may RC applications.

NO, the E-flite Blade CX1, CX2 pass 6 amps thru those JST connectors with no problems and the TP 1320 have JST connectors with thick 16 awg silicone wire

The Eflite 800mAh 3S 11.1V 15C LiPo, uses the 20GA JST/Balance plugs. The battery I'm using is 500mah at 20-30c. The ESC uses the same 20 guage wire to connect. If the wire was too thin what would I see happen? Over heating, bogging down. Thanks Ron
