2s 1100 1100 mah a123 battery for rx pack?`
I was thinking of using a 2s 1100 mah a123 battery for a rx pack for a slope soarer. I need the weight anyways so I thought it could work out well. My only concern is that the voltage is over 6v. It will be used with a spektrum rx and those are good to 9v so no problem there. Will standard servos hold up to 6.6 v to 7.2 volts? I would rather not use a BEC just to keep things simple.
Have others used this setup w/o a BEC?

Works great. Here ia a Thread which clearly shows volrage is no greater than a 5cell Ni. Post by users with many flights using 2S LiFePO4 receiver / servo battery.

Charles - I was reading in another thread that someone wanted to use a 2 cell 1100 mah A123 pack to power the servos in a 50cc model running 4 digitial servos rather than the 2300 mah cells to save weight. What is their max current output that will deliver a safe 6v to the servos? I thought that sounded unwise.

I ain't Charles -but I do use the 1100's for rx packs
50 CC models - done a bunch of em
these are not sporty planes but full blown 3D capable models
1100 ma pack is fine -
there is no need for anything over 200 inch ounce servo in that size model and 150 inch ounces (actual measured torque ) is typically all you need -if the power is 6 volts .
You will likely get a few flights , then recharge as you fill the gas tank.
You must check your setup for no fighting servos or stalling servos too-
I bet you can't pull 200 ma per flight . One other thing -It isn't the size of the servo -it's the LOAD on the servo. which determines power draw. big servos like 8611s can pull more power but that does not mean they will.
