its amazing how much better than looks in the pics. oh yeah, I pulled that rear end apart, its no wonder it was locked up. be glad you never tried to run that one. not only were there parts missing inside the gearbox, but whoever had it before you glued some pieces of plastic in there to try to hold the axles in place to keep them from coming out the end of the axle shafts :[
