Gorgeous Seawind EP water landing in slowmo

High resolution video (not HD though) in slow motion (by factor of 4)

This is exactly the reason I bought a float plane. Having nailed that, if I crash it tomorrow it will still all be worthwhile . Enjoy!

Edit: Just added edited video of whole flight.

Beautiful!

Once in a lifetime (unless you practice a lot). Where's your pond?

Nice landing - I miss my Seawind...lost orientation on a calm evening and put her into a tree. She still sits in the tree 3 weeks later. The crew bailed out that day, so they are safe and sound ...found the cowl, motor, and mount a few days later ...and after 3 good days of rain and wind, the wing separated and is now wedged in a crutch of 3 branches and fuse is hanging from the tail . Hmmmm, I wonder....shotgun...

Needless to say, I love that bird and will be getting another one soon!

Very pretty. What are you using for power? I was planning on picking one up in the spring for my lake house.

Thanks, to be honest, I hadn't actually noticed that flare until watching it again after you pointed that out.
Quite amazing how perfectly timed it all was really, not withstanding that it was largely just beginners luck since it was only the second water landing I have ever made (the first one was just two bounces on water then smack into some tussocks on the beach - luckily no damage!).
I also like the way how the model comes off the 'step' just inches before coming to rest on the shore too.

Here's what I'm using for my setup:
Receiver:
Berg CC Microstamp 4 channel Rx
Futaba 7CHP Tx
Hyperion 2100mAh 3S LCL battery
Hyperion 30A ESC
Hyperion HP-1919-04 motor with 6 * 4 APC prop making 233 Watts on 3S battery

You're Doing It Wrong!

Where's the drama!? Where's the excitement!? Where's the hair-raising, white-knuckles-wrapped-around-the-transmitter, edge-of-your-seat panic!?

When I line up on final, HA!, I mean when I whip 'er around in a last second preparation for landing, there's a tactile tension in the air, cuz everyone knows disaster can (and often does) happen! That's how you do it!

Seriously, that was a beautiful landing! I dream of the day my landings don't look like my plane is trying to throw itself onto the ground.

Maybe then I'll try seaplanes or float planes, but probably not. The way I land I'd have to go out and retrieve it from the middle of the lake and I swim like a rock.

Good Job and nice video!

Mark

that was a cool landing to watch

At a very large float fly with tons of spectators i did my best touch and go ever followed by pouring on too much throttle to quick with a 9/6 prop and it basically dove back into the water

I'm probably at @ 150 flights now and it's still in one piece
