I remember talking with him via Ham radio( we are both Hams) and it was 158 below zero that day at the south pole !

I'll take 120 in the shade over -15 and 5' of snow any day! At least in the summer I can still go out and fly (until about 8am! ).

Well in the tropical United Kingdom we have overcast, rainy, foggy and windy weather. Which makes a change from our normal overcast, rainy and windy conditions!!! I'd sure like a bit of variety, even if variety is -20!

My thoughts do go out to those down under, it must be terrible to have two catastrophic events in such a short period of time.

Tony,
My thoughts and prayers go out to your sister, as I have many friends and at the time family who were living in New Orleans when Katrina struck. It's one hell of a thing to go thru. take care. Jim

I can relate, my entire dad's side of the family lives in Lousiana, my grandad living in Slidelle where the eye of Katrina went over.

Well, my oldest son was there and had to walk out of Mid City in chest deep water to the riverfront to get to a shelter in Baton Rouge, and believe it or not, the last house I owned in La. was in Slidell. Nothing was left of it but a slab after the storm. Was a nice place to live. Jim

Just praying the typhoon doesn't cost as much as one life.
Houses and cars can be replaced.
Right now the wind has died down, used my big snow blower to clean the driveway and walks.
The grass at the flying field behid my house is under about 12 inches of snow! UGH!
However Puxtatuney Phil ( the famous groundhog In Pennsylvania) didn't see his shadow today
which by tradition means winter will be over in six weeks???!!!
Today February 2nd is "groundhog day" here.

Ed
Hey Ed, can you put some snow in an envelope and send it to me so I can see what it looks like?

Im not sure what my grandparents did, maybe they hunkered down in the Super Dome, since I don't think they left La. My grandad's place only got 3' of flooding in it, so he still lives in the same place.

Hey Zootster,
Would you mind sending me a well insulated thermos to put it in? LOL !
If I put it in an envelope, the envelope might be soggy by the time it gets to you!

Hey all,
I think the off topic conversations need to have their own thread. I have tried not to say anything, but I am getting tons of e-mails from engineers, aerospace guys, and just RC guys asking me to start a new thread so they don't have to plow thru all the off topic stuff. I don't want to ditch this thread and use my blog to post the B-36 being finished, but this thread has complete went off topic (though the info is interesting and cool), but the e-mails I am getting about off topic is killing me as I try to answer every e-mail. So unless its about aviation concerning or in a loose way attached to a B36 please get on topic, I will try to get more B-36 up when I can. I have had people un-subscribe as they hate getting e-mail alerts that a new post has been posted on the B-36 to only find a post that has nothing to do with the B36.

Thanks, Damon
