Most of the runways of the old Wright field still exist. We flew part of the 1980 Nats there and it used to be used for test flying RPV from the runway along the south side of Wright field.

Hey all,
Work has me 110% slammed. I will get nothing done on the 36 until Saturday. I like the idea of a book on my project, I have over 600 photos to date. I am not a real good person to build a book, but just the story the pictures could tell would be really cool. If you include the CAD drawings, my 3D renderings, and photos, I have over 1000 pieces of media.

Something to think about.

Thanks, DAG

DAG, you already have the book made. Just print this thread I couldn't imagine a new book containing more info than what you've got here.

In fact, unless things have dramatically changed since I was stationed there, that's where the base club flies (non-duty hours and weekends). It's a super area, first (and last) time I was ever only 2 minutes away from work to the flying field....

The beggining of the earlier YouTube on the search for the B-36D took me to my youth. The sound of those radials and the props whipping up the exhaust note and doppler shift was, for me, a trip to my home in Florida and listening to the B-36s fly overhead from Homestead. Cir. 1954.

I think he decided to just go with shells for now. He doesn't really need the extra thrust.

We pushed him to add them, he still may, but I don't think he plans on it as of now.

I am back from visiting clients in 3 cities, the last one in Minneapolis, wow did it snow there, just got out on the last flight to Indy last night got in at 12:45. I hope to get a ton done this weekend. I want to start sheeting parts of the wing so I can set the tube spars, then install the flap mechanism.
