Attached is a Cheat Sheet I made of the Tx that comes w/ the RTF version.
Most notable is the info on the switches and knobs. I think the Gyro knob would be a mystery if not documented. I don't know how anyone would figure this out w/o going into the T6config and looking through it and experimenting. My RTF did not come with any info on this so I documented it.

Weird, there is a new version of 450PE now on XHeli:

http://www.xheli.com/blueray-450.html

As far as I could tell, the only difference is the fiber glass canopy. Anything elss that's changed?

Mine hasn't even arrived yet, should I return mine and get this new one?

Yup, Just looked. They are doing all kinds of things it seems.
They have 2 versions, Blueray and Genesis. Genesis just looks like a fiberglass canopy but a different color.
Then they have the SE version that is now w/ metal head and fiberglass. Like the SE, this has the different gyro and the Mini Titan like servo mounts.
Strange move to have SOO many versions that are very close to the same thing. Not to mention the EXI line.

tail slider bushing

there is a bushing inside of the tail slider on the piece that connects to the L shaped pitch control arm connected to the servo rod.it screws into the assembly that moves the tail blades.

THIS BRASS BUSHING IS NOT A PRESS FIT and amazingly can unscrew.

if you start to have tail problems check that the bushing is screwed in to the pitch arm control assembly. if it does unscrew use loctite to secure it.

HXT900 servo and the exceed/esky stock gyro

this combination does not appear to work.

since there is no reverse switch on the gyro it cannot deal with the HXT900s.

reversing ch 4 will not fix the problem.

thus, unless you are willing to use a reversible gyro like the GY400
or other such, you will not be able to use the hxt900 servo on the tail.

you can reverse the hxt900 itself ,but this is not a trivial thing.

so buy a servo that has the same "sense" as the batans such as the esky,
or switch gyros to one with a reverse switch.

this will be a problem for anyone with the 704a gyro and a reversed sense servo on any heli

@Melnic.... you need to tell your people to outfit the Blueray with a reversible gyro.

really like the titan mounts. makes dealing with the servos very easy.

i guess you could fit them on the stock PE

My window is getting close, the package is now sitting on the truck coming to my house right now.

If it's just the canopy that's the difference between the two, I am not going to bother sending it back then. Just wasn't sure whether there are drastic improvements...

Thanks!

You can reverse that gyro by flipping it upside down.
In other words, you rotate it in the aileron axis 180 degrees. Rotate it so that the wires still come out the same side, but now the LED will be on the right side of the heli and not the left. I'm working on putting the Hxt servos into my heli this weekend so I can try them out myself.

BTW, the EXI boom was a tad shorter and did not have the screw hole on the side. I'm going to try it out anyway drilling a small hole for the screw anyway just for knowledge sake. I had ordered both the blueray as well as the EXI boom on my parts order from my recent crash.

Yes, the Genesis version should be easier to service. The front servo on the blueray is a pain to get out.

there's a screw? my original boom had slots not a hole...no screw
i don't think the length will affect the heli that much.i had no issues with the belt.

my front servo came outside, the 2 rear are inside. the xheli pix show it this way too.i loosen the frame screws and i'm able to get the lower rear one out without taking the frame completely apart.i've done it several times no problems.

wish they used metal screws with metal nuts on the servos tho.
i will probably replace them eventually, altho the plastic nuts work well enough. you can improvise replacements for the plastic nuts if you lose them by using a small section of a servo horn where the holes are.

in re: the canopy

i had to trim the original canopy to get it to fit. i tried to cut a hole in the top so i could see my battery V monitor which i had sitting on top of the battery and since the plastic is rigid i wrecked it....it just snapped.

i bought the exi31124 canopy which fits perfectly with no trimming and also has clear sides,is a bit longer and looks better too. also cheaper ($3 vs $8 for the blueray's)

now i mount the voltage monitor on the side of the battery with a rubber band and can see it easily through the canopy.

Thanks!

you are in for a surprise if you do ship it back when you see what the shipping for UPS will be

i suggest using priority mail. about $7.00.

but it's the same heli...different canopy.fiberglass canopies all seem to be about the same price...$19.don't know how much stronger they are.

the genesis is different but not that much that *I* would send the first back.working with the servos for repair will be easier with the genesis.

i'm sure they fly much the same way, excellently

i think you will be happy, barring getting a lemon

BTW, the 450 PE RTF is sold out. the rx ready ARF version is still available. I guess ppl are starting to notice.

Well, I don't want to send it back and wait for another 2 weeks to get it, I want it now, now, now. I actually don't care about the canopy, it's the other stuff I am worried about, but doesn't seem to be too many changes if any.

I just took a look on the Genesis, and I see what you guys are talking about on the easy servicibility. Interesting, I don't know why I never saw that before I ordered my Blueray.

The screw hole I"m talking about is on the back.
The center screw of the tail fin goes into the boom to keep the tail mechanics from rotating on the boom.
The front slot on the EXI is slightly shorter so I hope it all goes in ok.
Dunno why they made them different.

Worth enough trouble to send it back and get a Genesis if it's YOU, frac?
