FEATHERING SHAFT. i was surprised that i was actually able to fix one just with pliers even tho the 4mm shaft had a really serious bend
MAIN SHAFT...what a pleasure not to have to struggle with removing badly sized main shafts.the bolts that attach the shaft to the head and the gears are confidence inspiring. MAIN GEAR...my fault entirely, did not damage tail drive gear. uses 4 hole trex compatible 150 tooth...exi variety 3 for $8 TAIL BOOM....u will never see this thing descibed as "buttery soft" like the guruz. cab be had for $2.50 ea MAIN AND TAIL BLADES: the KB fluroscent yellow tail blades i got at helidirect really are larger than stock and throw the wind....immediate noticeable improvement FRONT TAIL DRIVE GEAR....again my fault i keep wrapping grass around the tail the gear broke. i got metal replacements with setscrews at HD. TAIL ROTOR HUB...unbelievably a tail rotor screw snapped and the blade went loose....i bought trex hopup tail hubs for $3 ea TAIL ROTOR SHAFT.....it bent.i straightened it. these are cheap SKID BRACE: still flew it with it half hanging off KNIGHTHEAD BRACE VERTICAL FIN HOLDER/BOOM SUPORT FLYBAR got stainless steel replacemnts for much less at HD they bend, they straighten SERVOS: your first crash you will probably wreck a servo these things are just fragile. plan on an immediate upgrade. i went to all HXT900s and the Tx was modified as needed ESC, Battery Radio, Gyro, Motor all still going fine. motor and esc get hardly warm after full pak flight. I LOVE THIS HELI ! frac Last edited by frac; Nov 07, 2008 at 10:23 AM. |

setup (electronic?)
seems i might have misinterpreted the intention with the neg pitch as the blueray came out of the box. pot A (right side) sets pitch and you can tune out all the neg pitch with that. i think there is some feeling in some quarters that having neg pitch in non idle up situations is a good thing. and given how the wind will take things i agree.
so in actuality you can do a totally electronic setup and trim. of course you really then want to setup up right mechanically, but it's a nice exercise for the electronics.both birds have been very close right out of the box mechanically. will get you in the air real fast ![]() frac Last edited by frac; Nov 07, 2008 at 10:39 AM. |

Looks like a good package. The pc programmable tx is interesting. I don't mind that setup. I do my programming at home anyway.

If you look at my youtube site (user ID is blueray450), most of my setup tutorials are of the Rx ready version w/ the DX7.
My last upload was the basic RTF radio usage given the default T6config settings that came w/ the heli. For anyone looking at this thread for referenc: Left switch is Idle up Right switch is throttle hold Left knob is Gyro gain (center is 0 gain, CCW from center is Heading hold, CW from center is rate mode). Frac, I'm curious where your gyro gain dial is and if you tweeked it. After looking at the T6config defaults, I don't like a few of the default values and think they should change a little and made notes the other day. I'll post them this weekend for you to comment on Frac. As you mentioned, my blueray servos came in pretty close to 90degree centers when removing the sub trim. I'm not sure rim each heli but if I compare my defaults to yours, we'd know. The tail center on mine was pretty off, but it could be because the tail servo mount slid some in shipping. Something I'll cover on my next tutorial which will be setting up the servos. One could as you did, just set it up w/ the subtrims or one could go the 9 yards and use a swash leveling tool. I'll document the quick and easy way for new customers of this heli. I love my blueray too ![]() David |

and yet everything was nice and level. probably why you are no longer happy with them because you did a real mechanical setup. you will have to modify again when you get the hxt900s. geez now that i'm flying around a lot i'm busting up servos all over the place.love those $1 gear kits. Quote:

ESC in the ARF died or is about to die
i have read about this befre and mine seems to be following the pattern->first the ESC gets warm to hot for no reason and then suddenly bursts into flame.
in my case i have unexplained heat with no throttle or other drain. i switched out the ESC from the first blueray which does not do this. i was unable to fly the ARF because the motor had no power.i guess the ESC is teetering just on the edge.the other esc is working fine. we'll see how xheli CS handles this....the ESC is obviously faulty. the ESC is the stock Volcano if your esc starts to get hot for no reason, don't fly. send the ESC back frac |

frac,
I am going to get the Blueray based on your recommendation. ![]() So after seeing your last message on the ESC, do you recommend then getting a new ESC with the package? Also, I couldn't find the TX by itself on the website anywhere. I guess I'll just get the RTF package then and pay $10 more. Thanks! |

![]() it 's not like everyone who buys an exi or exceed has a defective esc i am sure xheli will make good on the bad esc. my first bird did not have this problem. this is just a warning about a symptom that can accelerate to a surprising degree of hotness if ignored ![]() the TX is item number 18H-EE0085 at the bottom of this page: http://www.xheli.com/blueray450.html frac Last edited by frac; Nov 09, 2008 at 07:18 AM. |

the esc now on it is getting hot and the culprit appears to be a hyberactive tail servo that was itself quite hot. consider above report temporarily rescinded while i investigate further. i am going to put a ubec in and see what effect it has on idle temp of the esc. using a bec is always a good policy in case the bec in the esc has problems, the electronics will still be powered. frac |

Well, placed an order last night and UPS show that it shipped out today from XHeli.
Although I am seeing something weird, it only shows 1lb for the total package, and that's the RTF package with the heli and the TX. I am excited about it, but hopefully they didn't screw up the order.... |

the ESC is OK. other system elements were causing the problem.
i recommend that you add a ubec to avoid any power problems with the electronics. frac |
