but if it is what we both think it is, this is an interesting low cost if PITA way to get the computer functionality. we'll see. the pilot's guide has a lot of pitch curve illustrations but they relate i think to the pitch knob on the tx. as it is without any fiddling it was pretty nice EDIT: RADIO MANUAL HERE -> http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=29 frac Last edited by frac; Nov 07, 2008 at 11:04 AM. |

I had a look on ebay at the rtf 450's but there is not much on sale at the moment,I don't know why but the name gulang 450 springs to mind, I remember the blurb showing pics of a pc screen with the settings shown. have you tried googling the tx make to see if that turns anything up

verified-the ExceedRC Blueray 450PE Tx is FULLY configurable with a PC
while i was doing surgery on the blueray i discovered i had a problem with the hxt900s...they are reversed wrt to the stock exceed servos.
the main problem is that i am not on top of windows as much as i was when i was a user, so back into the system and t6config i went.i discovered the interface on com5,swicthed that setting on t6config and it worked. reversed the servo chanel and now all is well. it's not as convenient as a dx7 et al, but it sure as hell is better than nothing (aka stock Txs, oh say, from esky) with t6config you can set almost anything on this radio that you can with the expensive computer radios, mixes, limits, etc altho i still think the subtrim thing is ridiculous.....unless you have a pocket pc with you at flighttime with appropriate interface and software. btw this transmitter/receiver combo is available from xheli for $60.the rx comes with a satellite. think i'll put one on the Honeyed Monstrosity and see if it morphs into a butterfly excuse while i do the happy dance(don't look...it's ugly )this interface, which is a usb to serial interface does not, apparently, facilitate use of the Tx with a sim...but i will play frac Last edited by frac; Oct 10, 2008 at 04:56 AM. |

Exceed Blueray 450PE: HELP!!!
Hello everyone,
Plz, I need help with the blueray 450PE purchased on xheli. The t6config did not come with any instructions whatsoever, so i did not know that I had to press the "getuser" button. For some unknown reason, it reset all the numbers of the Tx to crap. Huge disaster! Now, after spending a whole day trying to understand the t6config, I could reconfig the throt curve, pitch curve, 3D mode... but I believe everything I set is no where close to the right values. So could you do me a big favor here: could you getuser on you Tx, then save as a factory default file, then email it to me so that I can reset my Tx to the good use condition. This is a huge help. So I hope you wouldn't mind doing so. my email is: roman_king1@yahoo.com. Thanks a million. Tony. |

I just wanted to add that disreputable 450 clones are like disreputable women, everybody talks bad about them, but they are a hell of a lot of fun.

i have already modified mine since i changed out the servos to HXT900s and they are reversed compared to the stock. didn't save the default. sorry. however, xheli should be able to help they do have a tech support thing i gues now is the time to see what's up with them on that score. However, it may also be the case that each of these birds is individually tuned. you can look at the pix in my $60 Tx thread and i think they show some of the defaults in any case there are plenty of ppl here with computer Tx who can and will help. i HATE how a mistake with the radio, any radio, can really get you hurt with 450 class birds. UNPLUG EVERYTHING, REMOVE BLADES AND FLYBAR or move motor off main gear and avoid getting hurt. i reversed CH4 and suddenly the sucker spooled up full speed. couldn't figure it out for hours until i noticed that somehow the throttle trim on the Tx was at it's max value take heed. frac Last edited by frac; Oct 21, 2008 at 12:34 AM. |

![]() however, it turns out that this is a first rate heli. xheli may have a bad rep, but i think Exceedrc is OK. i don't knowif exceed is another "front" for xheli, but i tend to think not the CNC head is really nice....no slop. frac Last edited by frac; Oct 21, 2008 at 12:27 AM. |

seems like support exists and functions if you sign up at the rcdiscuss.com xheli support site. it's a forum setup just like rcg and the company reps run and participate in it frac |

I have the Exceed Blueray 450 myself. I purchased the Rx ready version back on the Labor Day sale. I liked the way it flew so much I ordered a 2nd one as a backup. I flew helis nearly every weekday from 1992-1997 and then took a several year pause in flying w/ the occational flying of my Raptor 30. Got back into flying last year. Took the adventure into electrics just this year. As evidence into my liking of the Raptor 30, I've always been a "Bang for the Buck" kinda flyer. The Blueray fits that bill. Exceed seems to rebrand lots of things and add a little value to it (extra QC inspection, package deals etc). Looking at the Xheli website this basically is an EXI MA450 w/ Batan servos, Alpha 400 motor, Volano ESC and an Esky 704A HH gyro and a Battery. Adding up all that you get to around $280 for what Xheli sells for $249 already put together. The Batan servos to me have a more solid feel to them then a generic tower pro even though they I think are pretty much like the Tower Pro 9g servos. Even w/ an analog servo, the tail holds just fine for most flying. I'm doing flips and Inverted w/ the heli is really smooth w/ the flybar weights all the way out. Move the flybar weights in and its more responsive.
I had to trim the canopy back after cyclic interference on one but not the 2nd heli. For my 2nd heli, I put another Dx7 receiver on it, copied my original settings and tweeked the pitch to my liking. Flips and inverted on my test flight. Flew just like the first one (well, little smoother inverted hovering as I used a swash leveling tool on the 2nd one). I think anyone who flies 30-60 Nitros who's got a heli Tx already and wants to venture into small electrics would enjoy this heli. received my 2nd Blueray today....opted for the ARF rx ready for $249
since i have exceed tx/rxes out the wazoo ![]() 10 mins to install, about 15 more at the computer setting up the tx. i decided to experiment and instead of doing the usual mechanical setup i did *everything*(almost) in the Tx. well i couldn't cause the head links needed lengthening to get out of neg pitch but only that... everything else was setup with the tx...level swash etc. i didn't even pay much attention to blade tracking i just turned the links the same number of turns. i have been flying this bird with plastic blades. each weighs 24g and damn until today i did not realize what a pig i had. nice comfy pig but a pig nonetheless. the stock carbon fiber blades are so much lighter it's like a different heli, it just dances through the air.i still had the flybar weights on and extended and it still was super responsive. 3 paks later and , since it's dark and i'm flying under a street light with black blades, i have the inevitable throthold momemnt, ie forgetting to use, thus wrecking the main gear. of course this is the ONE spare part that i did not buy..... will cannibalize first to run second Blueray. bwhahahaha the batan servos are not durable at all.i would plan on an immediate upgrade to HXT900s.Tx will have to be adjusted.the HXTs are very strong and durable, the gear sets, which i have not had to use yet, are $1 i don't have a scale to verify but i swear this thing is lighter than my guruz'ed cp2. for my efforts with the tx i was rewarded with 6 sec handsoff hovers, when the wind cooperated.this thing is impossibly easy to fly. frac love my BlueRay new plastic version RTF $249 everything included. www.xheli.com |
