Success
Flew the F86D today, my son did the honors as I had not been flying anything since early February and felt that his reflexes would be better than mine.
We went out and found a feild where there was some grass that was about 1ft and not dead weeds so we could glide test. The CG was set to 18% of MAC at the house and the glide was straight with no tip stalling. So we went for it. I tossed it straight and level into the slight breeze and she flew away a little nose high, I think the CG was a little nose heavy and once on step it flew with only a few clicks of up. After gaining a little altitude we retrimmed and she got on step. Not fast but looked pretty cool in the air. This thing was flying arround with only 85watts maybe 40mph. Once trimmed the plane would fly arround at a little more than half throttle. Sorry about pictures but even though I had a check list it was left on the work table. Tomorrow I will fly it again and this time I wont forget the pictures and video. Cheers, Eric B. |
