Sorry have not had time to work on the airframe much this weekend, this week looks promising though. I have been working on the cutting of the wings, the thin cuts have been something of a problem with the wire being to hot and not able to control the amperage as tightly as needed. Still working on that one.

Makeing headway. I taped the fuselage together to make a fan test inside the fuselage. The test went ok and I need to hog some foam to add room for the electronics. I took some pictures of the fuslage for you guys to look at. I will post more pictures as things come together.

Hi Coop,

Thanks for the compliment but the fit is not quite perfect although it will build straight. I am learning how to keep the parts square ATM so doing a few will get me ready. The fan ran well and I have had it for quite a while. I cut the bell off the shroud so it fit the ducting properly. The fan itself is using the Feigao 5800Kv 12mm motor and 3s should make a decent flying model. I am thinking of taking the 12mm out and putting a 20mm motor(5300Kv). I might even make another rotor for it eventually with more pitch to fit the 20mm motors ability to make torque over the 12mm.
Lots of things to do.

Cheers,
Eric B.

Hi Coop,

Might have it flying by weekend. All I need to do is get the wings lined out with the spars cut into them properly. I cut a few cores a couple weeks back but had to figure out how the spar would be cut into them as they are pretty thin. I decided to make them a couple percent thicker closer to 8% so I need to cut a few new ones and then set up a cut for the spar.
I will post images as soon as I can work on it agian.

not sure of what your plans are, but are you going with flat tail and wings? or are you going to hot wire then to give it a more scale look too? tom

Hi Tom,

The wing is hot wire cut to a specific airfoil, the horizontal and veritcal stab is cut from 2mm depron.

I have resized the An72 to 55mm fan size and can cut it easily with the CNC as it is configured and I was thinking of doing one or two next. When I start it I will start a thread on it in my blog.

Getting closer to flying it. Worked out the wings and spar this week. The airframe with fan and battery weighs in at 5oz maybe 6oz with the 2 servos. Need more room in the cockpit for battery, reviever and esc, so I dremeled out some more area for the battery in the nose area. Not sure I can cut it like that but will try on the next one.
