Some little mods to convince the looks can gradually be done Eric. Sometimes though its not looks that matter but reliability.
I'm sure its super reliable now with the belt driven upgrade. Glad its working out!
Let me know how that little F-86D comes along.....

I myself will be doing some templates here soon and cut out some foam for the BD-5.

Cool O, look forward to seeing the BD evolve. This F-86D is sized for the Wemo micro so it is large for the GWS40.

Ok, started cutting the parts today. Here is a section I have completed to show you how it will be constructed. It will be on the large size for a 40mm.

Hi O,

Yup it is going but I still need more heat for straight cuts. I am limited by the ammount of amps I can run thru the wire right now(~1mm sec).

Here is a few more foto's of the construction of the fuselage.

Eric B.

The cutout is for the 1/8 spar for the wing panels.

I have started to assemble the parts, I needed to get the canopy cutout finalized and make a test cut and in the picture you can see the cut is there opening the fuselage for the battery and esc compartment. the aft end will be assembled tomorrow, I have cut the last section to mount the horizontal stabilizer to assure the thrust line the the horizontal stab are correctly situated. The duct is readily visible and it looks like it gets smaller at the inlet but it actually spreads out more so the area is preserved.

More to come.

Nice Eric! The transitions in the duct from segment to segment look pretty mild, are you going to try to blend them anyway?

Eric-- Can you show some of your templates? I'm about to start on my Viggen project and I'm spending a lot of time laboring over the ducts. I don't have or do CAD so it's worked out either in my head or pencil and paper.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Matt,

Working thru it slowly...
The transitions probably wont hurt as much as changing area transitions. I will try a test when I get the fuselage completed and see what the little bugger puts out...

Hi Mike,

The sections change as the duct progresses thru the fuselage. ClausXPF posted a few jpegs of good duct design and it is very similar to what I use.
Designing without CAD is fine, you know the starting shape and the ending shape so the shapes that transition thru formers can be derived thru orthographic projection techniques we all learned in the days the pencil was king. I still do the this with AutoCAD when I use it.
