Hey scott i ordered the slick from 3dhs and i have everything coming for it except the power system. I cant decide whether to get the hacker a30-12xl or your reaper gr-45.
Now here is my problem i have several hackers and zero problems with them! I tried a new motor that everyone in the thread was praising (scorpion) and have had nothing but problems with it! So i am weary about trying new motors! Also i hear they are very powerful but i have seen no prop/amp/rpm info about them. Is there any info you can give me so i can compare the 2 ? It would help you sell these if you can get the numbers posted here!!

I thought that seemed a little optimistic, being basically 100% of the voltage x Kv RPM using a 3.5V/cell figure and a 220Kv motor (9240 RPM calculated), but the numbers were confirmed here

I notice on this page that the Plettenberg Terminator is only able to manage 71~75% of voltage x Kv for their RPM. Since the Plettenberg Terminator is a comparably sized motor with comparable Kv, then the comparison would be valid.

This means Reaper has developed a motor that absolutely stomps the stuffing out of a Plettenberg. This is truely an astonishing breakthrough in motor design, Plettenberg may need to go back to the drawing board after this one.

if you ask what i like on them in flight i like the gr35 on 12x6 4s gr45 on 15x6 4s gr60 on 15x7 on 4s these are my favorites.

If the numbers are correct, then Scott is a world beater. He verified them twice, he obviously knows his motors better than anybody.

When guys need childish cartoons to use in a debate (seems to be a lot of that going on lately), then that usually means they are tapped out.

The picture of Barney Fife, as Scott said, is just an inside joke between us. If you ever watched the Andy Griffith show, you'll understand. If not, you missed on some great Americana.


EDIT - BTW, I've been poking around a little. I managed to find a couple of posts that listed RPM for Hacker A100 and A150 setups...looks like 90-92% of theoretical 3.5V*S*KV RPM is accepted as believeable on Hacker setups.

Also, I've always used a 10% +/- on Kv for hand-would motors (Scott, the GR-85 we're flying is hand-wound, right?) so that's 200-240KV.

That gives us a theoretical RPM range of 8000-10400. Well, I was holding the tach for that 9200 measurement, and the tach appears to be working, so I think the most obvous explanation is that the Reaper is probably similar to the Hacker in its theoretical/loaded RPM ratio, and in fact has a KV of over 220, at least in this example.

I'm not a "motor guy" at all, and it doesn't seem too difficult to understand the numbers Josh posted as being within the norm for other motors in this size range. I think agendas make for hasty, and sloppy, and incorrect posting.

If Reaper has distorted the space-time continuum, it appears Hacker has too.
