fwiw...I have a hard time giving any credit to a "paragraph" of misspelled words.

And I don't have a problem paying my dues with the AMA.(That means I voted yes )

If your looking for a 'show of hands', you'll only get about 800 from the AMA's 'Park Flyer Program'.

About 20% of which are peope who "moved down" from "Open" membership.

Another 20% were people whos AMA membership had expired by 1 yr to 3 years (a large part of which probably would have come back as "Open" members if PPP hadn't existed.)

So we can figure 25% to 30% of PPP members would have been Open members if the PPP program didn't exist.

Combine that with the costs of setting the program up, low total PPP response... and the program is looking like a bust.

Not sure what you mean. There are more than just PP members that use RCG.

So to clarify, you are an AMA member posting in this forum, but you voted "No."

I vote no. This type of forum has no effect on any elections. all the people I fly with come to forums to share building/flying information and technical advice. AMA politics have no effect on the love we share of flying other then placing more restrictions on when where and how we fly. Yes I am an AMA member and this is the first time I have ever posted anything in any forum.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and voting. I also do not think AMA forums have any significant role since there are so few that actually visit them. Even the most popular RC forum in the world has less than 100 AMA members that actually read/visit it. This one has much less visitors.

Frank

PS Welcome to RCG

People don't go to this forum to elect, they come to ask about the AMA like what it is, what it does, and so on, this forum wasn't made to vote!

I only joined the AMA because I like to attend a few contests each year which require AMA membership to participate. Otherwise I feel the AMA is worthless (IMHO). I could go on but this is not the place.
I voted "yes" because I am an official dues paying member, nothing more.
Simple question, simple answer.

Ive been flying on private land the last 2 years, but Ive kept my
AMA up to date. I like getting MA, and the liability ins. could
become useful some day. Other than that I dont have to be a
member.

I voted no.

I have read pretty much most of this thread and found some post to show similar political views. The statement was how some handle money. I have heard this in political arenas as to how they think some should be allowed to vote based on their income level. It should never be an issue.

My biggest gripe is that the AMA has not taken the right steps to draw new memberships. The PPP is kind of a joke. With RCG being a huge example of the park type 's they went and regulated it to the point that it isn't worth the cost. It should be no different then how they have allowed turbine clubs to regulate themselves. It only shows a lack of confidence in a clubs ability to educate and regulate what happens locally.

Our local field (WACO) was stripped of the XFC due to the AMA's actions. I guess if the field doesn't meet the standards to hold AMA events ,then it shouldn't require membership with the AMA.It may not have been the intent but it really does send the wrong message.

The main reason I have decided not to renew my membership is due to a writer and editors inability to offer an apology. I wasn't asking for a public statement or clarification of facts. They seem to find no fault in misrepresentation. I guess I should hold them in the same light as they seem to hold my membership. Even if it means that I get out of this hobby all together its based on principle. Theres simply nothing wrong in taking the time to do something right as well as holding honesty and integrity in the highest regard. If cause harm to another individual intentional or not ,man up and take responsibility or offer and apology.

Actually.. the "Founding Fathers" of the US designed the system to require people to have some semblence of success in order to be able to vote.

Reading tests before voting were originally designed to prove that the potential voter was capable of reading about who or what they were voting for.
The tests got abused in the south (primarilly by Democrats) in attempts to prevent blacks from voting... and thus the successful challenge to the practice of having the test)

Poll taxes were designed to inhibit people from oting if they didn't have the financial ability to support themselves. (if you're too stupid to be able to support yourself you're too stupid to vote)
Again, this was abused (primarilly by southern Democrats) to try to keep blacks from voting, leading to the successful challenge of the practice.

The system was DESIGNED to keep the uneducated poor from voting, because its easy to "buy" the poor uneducated people's votes by promising them freebies (welfare for example...)

Shortly after the Constitution was ratified and George Washington was elected as our first President it was predicted that the new system would work... until the masses figured out that they could vote themselves free money.

Well.. now the primary issues that politicians tend to run on amount to... free money to the poor and "working poor"... and we have an ever increasing national debt and an increasingly socialist system. (exactly what the Founding Fathers warned we should work to avoid...)
