He probably used something similar to what is shown in these pictures...

Ok, thanks. It looked like he had fiberglass or similar around the bottom and top.

That is a carbon fiber spar glued and taped to the spine and also up the vertical stabilizer - really makes a difference in flex up and down and side to side- sure makes control inputs crisper in high winds and dives...

Sorry for the questions, I am a newb to the Radian. Is it packaging tape like others have mentioned?

I always loved that picture...it is a classic. The good news is that there is a solution. Here is my video version of the same phenomenon. At the end of this 45 second video you can see how much the stock RP flexes in the tail area.

Radian Pro tail flex (0 min 45 sec)

Yeah that tail is probably still jiggling today from that fairly easy landing-lol took like 30 seconds to stop-haha

This picture is misleading. Most of the "bend" is simply from the camera's distortion due to its movement. Everything in the frame is warped, including the clouds and the roofline of the building behind you. The tail may well have deformed noticeably in your catch, but this frame is not an accurate representation.

Packing tape with lengthwise fibers, a.k.a strapping tape, can carry tension much more effectively than non-fiber tape. Put some on either side of the tail boom to stiffen it considerably.
