Thanks.

Dru, the kits have not come in yet. FedEx tracking says today, but it is already 7:41pm our time!!! I have my fingers crossed!

Should have had them 3 days ago but my laser cutter is behind.

I apologize for the delay!

Scott

How's the idea of a balsa Polaris amphibian sound? I've started this but have no idea how it will end up (or when).

We need to send Tim the Tool man Taylor to give that LAZER cutting more power, maybe super speed it!!!!

This is the worst part of Polarities, the waiting for the cure. It is like dieing of thirst in the desert and seeing the mirage of a lake, the draw is over powering. I do not want to go to the light.

tpfing, a balsa build sounds good. The large version was balsa and ply. Should work well. Might not be quiet as light but will be close enough.

Um ....
Balsa or Foam, I suspect that wheels are NOT necessary even on grass.

I take off easily from grass all the time.

Just trying to save you some weight !

Scott,

GO WINGS!!!

Work has been slow on my kit due to family issues, but plugging along. I will post some pix when finished. I wanted to thank you for your fast service and answering my questions before I placed an order...

The wheels are not necessary from grass. I fly my foam Polaris exclusively from grass. I do, however, like to fly occasionally from asphalt and the wheels keep me from grinding the bottom off of the airplane. We do not have a club here, but sometimes two or three of us will gather at the local airport where we are allowed to fly from a paved area. The Polaris is so good to fly that I didn't want to exclude it from participation there.

Tony

PS: The landing gear is removable.

You could protect the vulnerable foam bits by using bicycle stick on frame scuff protection patches, they even do them in Carbon Fiber effect.

Take a look at this video clip. It's from about 10-15 years ago when Vince Pettke from Skymasters RC of Michigan customized a Northstar with retracts.

I guess that adds a whole new set of issues regarding the water entry points.

it's the servo doubler, belongs under the wing, meant to give rudder & ailerons servo a solid anchor.

Thanks. Bit late now. Not the first screw up in my life and many more to come I'm sure. Can't find it on the plans nor in the printed instructions.I did beef up that location a bit anyway.
