I'll most likely have a maiden this weekend. I'll be using the same power setup that Steve has (Grayson 2216-06 parkjet motor and 30A ESC, 3S 1300 25C lipo).

zap 67, that looks really nice. I was thinking about hooking up my push rods the same as you. Do you have any issues with water getting in.

just grinding with 400 paper, colored packingtape and sealing iron. and a little help from the sunshine.

no problem with water, just glue the servos with hotglue ( low temp ).

i have a video of one of my flights but i dont no how to upload it. i get the message it was too big 171 mb. help?

I started cutting out parts this morning. I thought I would make a few minor changes (I just happened to have the material, besides I can't leave well enough alone ) The wing is 9mm depron. The wingtip floats and the nose cone will be blue foam. I'm thinking about putting some 1/32 ply skid plates on the fuselage sides/bottom edge just forward of the step. Also thinking that I will fiber glass the fuselage bottom for durability.

Anybody care to guess about using Water Base Polyurethane on a seaplane. Is it waterproof enough after it dries?

I recommend you to host it on Vimeo, where you can upload videos up to 500 MB in size.

It's always especially fun for me to see how folks modify the design. Looks like you've got a direct aileron and rudder pushrod setup, carbon strengtheners in the nacelle, and some kind of scoop on top. What's the purpose of the scoop?

Here's my try. It's still in the white form. I used Elmer's poster board. I tried
to stick to the planes, but as usual I did make a few changes. I doubled the top wing with another thin layer of foam board, some b**** wood frame in the body and used WBPU and cloth to cover the bottom to seal for any leaks.
It came in at 417grms or 14 5/8oz w/o battery. What did you guys weight come in at.
I'm not looking for speed as you can see my water landing location is rather small.
In all it was a fun build, Thanks for the plans Mr. Jetset44.

the scoop is a hurry up thing for cooling to the esc. i also make a couple of holes in the nose for cooling to battery. its maybe not pretty but it helps, i had some truble with my first setup. (e-flite 25a esc and e-flite 420 bl 3800kv) thats what i had. Untill i get my setup from grayson (the same as yours) i had to kill my funjet with (e-flite 40a esc and e-flite six series 2700kv) it works fine so fare

Do you have any problems with battery and esc gets too hot? my first esc burned.
