Hello!

Just wanted to say Hi! Just found this forum and all these amazing pictures. I've been building a 1/48 NFR90 /Stretched Type 23 for about 4 years now. Kinda ran out of steam a bit after moving house but I've got some room again.

Had some good trials in a swimming pool, but my biggest problem was lifting it. I guess I should have worked out it's weight and displacement first. I didn't think to make most of the ballast removable. I wasted a lot of time trying to get a 1/48 scale Lynx to fly. I managed to get mechanics into a mould taken from a Belcher bits kit, but way way to unstable to fly outdoors.
I'm really impressed with the detail and the pictures. Keep it going. I'm inspired again!

Port side engine intakes and stack nearly done.
It doesnt show but I used metal siding evergreen with a 2mm styrene strip for the border, I would like to highlight the recesses of the grill with black but I'm not sure how just yet.

Cheers

Nearly finished the main mast bracing Just the supports for the centre of the upper platform to go, then a lot of cable trunking and detail.

I dug up some high-angle pics that I took of my ship the day before we commissioned her, maybe they'll help with your detailing;

Here's me about 60 pounds ago...

Excellent Photos, thank you,

Wish there were decent digital cameras for when I was in the Navy, would have taken a massive load of photos of the Minehunter I'm a plank owner of

Cheers

These are all 35mm film negatives that I'm scanning in, there were no digi-cams when I was in either...

Sea trials

First sea trials complete, I missed out on getting some on board footage but have some shots of her under way from the phone, I absolutely nailed the motor selection I reckon, peak amps 21.5 amps and 285 watts at on a partially discharged li-po of 14.4 volts.

The flight stabiliser I've set to the fin stabilizers works really well, I'm quite surprised.

Anyway here are some Photos I took

Thanks Jerry,

I've got a week to make her semi presentable for the remembrance day regatta

Bruce, It's an Orange flight stabiliser from Hobby King, the beauty of it is it will work with no RC input, just power and a Y lead to each stabilizer servo, I do have an RC input to it so I can "rock the boat" as I'm passing the wharf and it is also hooked to the rudder (though I think being such a long hull it has little effect)

Cheers
