My prop saver o-rings kept breaking and we had these ouchless hair bands in the house:

so I decided to try them. I use 2 or 3 of the middle size to hold the prop on. They do lose their elasticity after while and need to be changed out. Also, they will stretch as necessary when the prop hits something.

Be sure to get the "Ouchless" kind, otherwise you're just asking for trouble.
