Very true JPF,the AMR wasn't built for speed at all.and it's light as a feather,so for the weight it does a really awesome poptop
Well it does everything well

Pop tops?

So what control inputs do you guys use for pop tops on the AMR? All my attempts just end up in tumbles.

Funny you should ask that. I was just looking for the same thing and if you go to Youtube and enter RC Poptops you will find some instructional videos. Happy Tumbling!

That's the one I was working off. Only, I'm flying mode 1 . I can get the top pops to work on Phoenix, but in real life they fail...

My inputs are (from inverted), full throttle, go vertical, add right aileron, as the aileron goes to full deflection, chop throttle and add full down elevator and full left rudder. Center the aileron smoothly as the top pop unfolds. This is sort of what I could gather from the video.

Funnily enough many of my attempts with the AMR end up in a tumble too. Yet i can do them all day with my monoplanes... I'm sure it's all down to needing slightly different technique.

I can do it like a king with my AMR but battle with other planes.

I think one of the key secrets to getting a good pop top is to have a good entry speed!

A bit of an exaggeration chop ... I can get consistent 1 and a 1/2 rotations.
On a dead calm day if I hit the sweet spot I'll get two...
Managed to get some video today and busy editing a sequence of just the pop tops.

I'm done with mine. I have hobbled it back together too many times. After repairing again, I took off yesterday only to have it roll and flop uncontrollably. "landed" pretty hard on it's side. So this one is going to the junk yard
