I assumed that, as standard prescription dosage is three 800mg/day. Thought I'd verify.

On another note...I have to pick up a new Weber grill that is fully assembled this evening and I don't have a truck. Anybody have time to help me out? The grill is down by TT and my house is in Round Rock. If not, I will just head over to home depot and rent one. Thanks.

Guys, for this reason we don't recommend aggressive treatment for herniated discs initially. There are lots of people walking around with "herniated discs" that is completely asymptomatic. For them, you do nothing.

As I've said a good 90+ people w/ back pain, and even herniated disc will recover in 6 months or less.

When they've done long term outcome studies on folks with / without surgery, there is no difference. So, if the pain is still tolerable, stick with the non-op course.

Things that would prompt you to seek additional medical issue is if you start developing weakness (foot drop, etc) in your legs. That would drive most surgeons to operate on you. Also, if you start loosing bowel / bladder function... you need to go to the ED... PRONTO.

The max allowable motrin / ibuprofen dose is 2400 mg per day, divided by 3 or 4. That means 600 mg 4x/day, or 800 mg 3x/day. All OTC motrin are 200mg a piece, hence the recommendation for 12 pills / day.
