I have been using a Hitec Aurora 9. I built a 104 for my buddy CJ, he uses a JR 11x. The thing I noticed immediately between the A9 and 11x was the response time (aka latency). That was enough for me so back to JR.

Radio should be here tomorrow.

We did find a really nice place. A little bigger than where we are now, and most importantly, a large loft/game room so we can stay out of the heat and away from those damned Mosquitos!
I'm sure you've timed the route to work....and back ? U'aLL didn't have 'em ? (mosquitos) I've heard teLL that ours (TeXaS size) can pick uP a smaLL kiTTy and caRRy iT away !

It'll be 20-30 min, depending on traffic, and as far as Vegas, essentially no flying insects, must be the lack of humidity and the heat, i dunno... but that is one think about the south that I haven't missed! I hate mosquitoes!

Should have given one of these 8fg supers a whirl. I switched from spektrum to Futaba and was instantly impressed by the noticeable difference in the latency. Just sayin.

Really the 8FG is a SUPER FAST radio. Don't knock it till you try it. You guys know I am a Futaba guy so no changing your mind though. Ben sold his 11X and got a 8FG at the first FLI this year, he had been a huge JR/SPEK fan forever so that says something about the control ability of it. I would love an 18MZ but dayum they are pricy, I am waiting for a more affordable 14channel with the 8FG "new-tech"

James,

I have fun with the JR vs Futaba vs Hitec stuff. To be honest I'm not so sure why I've never tried a Futaba, no particular reason.

My XG8 arrived today. The radio has a great feel to it. The radio is easy to hold on to as you can wrap your fingers around the sides easily, its done by a deeply recessed back panel. Gimbals are angled out a bit which helps.

The battery has a LiFe battery installed with the charger built into the radio. The walwart is basically a 9v power supply.

The only down side I have right off the bat is the darn power light is one of those bright blue led types. Bright enough to poke your eye out. But I shouldn't be looking at the radio when I'm flying should I.....

I'll play with the programming tonight when I get home.

I put a light on my dx7 and it did this. you don't have to be looking at it for it to bother you. I put a dab of black silicon on the tip. problem solved. I do like the light though.

Nice Chris. A semi-auto is next on the list so my wife and I can go get our CCL.
