What Motley Crue Can Teach Us About Drug Legalization

A great article sure to change no one's mind, but valuable ammo for those not case hardened by emotion and the desire for control, against reason.

Quote:
Motley Crue rocked the 1980s. They played hard and partied harder. Their lifestyle was a toxic mixture of drugs, alcohol, fast cars, and fast women. Their reputation for drug abuse remains legendary — rivaling Ozzy Osbourne, the Grateful Dead, and even the Rolling Stones.

Anyone supporting drug legalization must reconcile their position with the existence of these coked-up hallucinating tattooed hooligans on motorcycles. Most citizens fear legalization would lead to the rapid decline of Western Civilization: the youth would jump at drugs; dope would be in every home and every vein; morality would fly out the window, and life as we know it would collapse all around us.

With these "esteemed" gentlemen as examples, only the deranged could support drug legalization. That is, until one examines the specifics more closely.

Don't feel bad, they know that a stopped clock will agree with a running one for a fleeting instant twice a day. Here's your instant to be right.

Seriously though, the article makes a good case.

an odd position for one who is willing to support what you do when it comes to smoking, and I thought you had stated otherwise on this issue.

In this event, I retract my comment and apologize for the mistatement.

They make a good case. I have always supported legalisation - the war on drugs is an abject failure and has ruined far more lives than it has protected.

Not if it's set on military time.

Pot is already the most-used illegal drug out there. Smoking weed has the lowest time cost of all the drugs. In fact, the time cost is lower than alcohol. An individual can smoke a joint and be sober in an hour.

That's why I never did pot, doesn't sound like any fun.

those who oppose legalization are the same ones that oppose proper education about drugs and their effects. so in the end it's their kids who end up dead with a needle in their arm. kinda funny that it's these same people who resist sex ed and end up with their 13 year old daughters being pregnant...

so with legalization must come education and IMO it would make for a much cleaner society with far less violence and crime.
