Scale Hang Glider !

Started with AceSim's (Ken Hill) Carbon Falcon. Added a carbon fiber tripod braced with nylon line and borrowed my daughter's Barbie for the pictures.

Final version will have a much lightened G.I. Joe, and nylon line going to the outer wing joint for sidewards stability. Tripod added 4 grams weight, and the lightened G.I.Joe should only add an ounce.

Yeah, she does look great in there, but.....uh.....how do you expect her to be able to fly that thing safely, with her hair blowing all over the place like that??

That's gotta be the scariest-looking harness I've ever seen.

I don't know, I think she looks pretty cute in there. If only I could find a full sized version.

I got a Heli Fire/Rescue doll on clearance at Toys r Us and lightened him up. I cut off his head , wrists, and feet, and made a music wire frame to support these remains. I stuffed him with cotton balls, and now he weighs only 2.2oz, instead of 16.5.

I'll get some pictures when I get him mounted.(on the plane - not Barbie)

Pilot in position. Ready to fly. AUW is a little heavy at 12 oz, but that is with a 8 cell AAA NiMH pack. Lithiums will get it down to 10 oz.

The regular plane has flown quite a bit. I fried a servo and have done this while waiting for a new one to arrive. The Carbon Falcon flies great with the GWS IPS, IPS Dual, and EPS 100C and everything from 7.2v lithiums to 9.6v 5/4 AAA 800 NiMH's. Anything up to 11 oz flies fantastic. Over 11 oz you can overspeed the warperons and the plane could tuck under at high speed. I have flown it indoors with the IPS and IPS dual. It can really manoever in tight spaces. High speed, high bank figure 8's in about 20' square.

Here's a shot of the regular Falcon. OBTW - available at www.acesim.com/rc

It flies!!!!

Quite well also. It flies like the "regular" Carbon Falcon when I had the GWS EPS 100C on it. It has a similar weight with my 3.2oz NiMH battery(12 oz). I'm charging the lithiums and will kmock off about 1 1/2 oz. The plane has a little more stability due to the pendulum effect and will now self correct out of turns. Other than that, there is no difference compared to the origional plane.

A visual enhancing modification that doesn't change the flying qualities.

Flight pictures soon.
