I have a composite Eflite F86 that will need the bungee for sure, but she's still in the box.
Well if you think you have enough power you can try an underhand launch. It takes a bit of coordination. Set your throttle to 1/4, then go to full power as you release. Works like a charm with over 50 flights..

nice launch and flight. can u explain the concept of the low power release? i have always launched at near full if not full throttle . is it just a matter of not being able to hold onto it at higher settings w/ one hand?

the dps sounds sweet ,what cell count and battery size did u go with ?

I go to full power as I release, which requires you to put some faith in the fact that everything will work as expected.

Again this will only work when you have better than 1:1 thrust.

Battery in the video is a 6cell 4000mah

From my experience you get an extra punch of thrust just after you hit full throttle then it seems to settle a bit. Maybe it's just a perceived benefit but it always seems to work better for me to throw just after hitting full throttle.

Don't think it will work when doing a one handed underhand toss. One slip/sweaty hands and you have a problem. Set just enough throttle to take up most of the weight of the plane. Then you get a nice controlled launch.

Here goes, finally got my Lander F9F ready for flight. Setup is a follows.
4375kv motor installed into a Change Sun 70mm shroud.
3S 3700mah 30C packs
100A Esc.
Retracts.
No Flaps (flaps were not cut out. V1?)
A.U.W. Around 1.5kg

Think this will lift off the ground? Heaviest foamie I've got. After swapping the alloy lander parts for the lighter CS shroud with the exception of the motor, it still spins just as smooth.

Any comments, ideas or thoughts about it before I commit it to the sacrificial altar? (aka maiden) Just can't figure out how else I can remove weight.

Thanks.

3.3 pounds is not much for these airframes , some are over 6 lbs

that being said the landers motors do rely on heatsinking to the alum housing . the wattage is down on the 3cell so maybe the heat generated wont be as much , but the current is fairly high and most of the heat is made by current flow. have u ran it much? on some other inrunner set ups the motor has gotten hot enough to melt the motormount area of the plastic housing. just saying.

might want to run it up for awhile and see how hot the motor gets, dont want a catastrophic failure.

Definitely ROG

I've discharged the 3700mah pak thru it quite a few times already and everything seems ok. Very happy with the fan/motor conversion actually. It turned out ok. I m more worried about the retracts collapsing on landing.

Have burnt 3 servos trying to get the retracts working properly.

Maiden will b 4 days away then..
