Zagi THL . . . smallest motor for power?

I have not seen a Zagi fly, yet. I have read so much positive info. on these amazing wings and I am curious about powering a THL with a small motor an extra boost and good duration!

1)What small brushed motor would be suitable for good performance and duration?
2)What gearbox would be needed?
3)What prop would be best?
4)Got a link to powered Zagi THLs?

Thank you in advance!

GOT a "E-THL" that I first used as a trainer to learn on then put a sp400 and 7x600ae into it, glides great and flies really slow for landing. Weight is under 17oz.
Cheers,
Grant

Get a Zagi 400.

I have a THL I converted to s400 and 8x600 cells. It flies ok but it can't touch a Zagi 400.

If you want to slope soar buy the THL.

If you want an electric Zagi buy the 400.

I eventually plan on ordering a Zagi 400.

The Zagi 400 is a THL with a modified airfoil and a speed 400 power package. The THL airfoil is slower and better for thermalling if you like that. You could make a Zagi THL 400 by buying the tray, canopy, speed control, and battery pack from Trick. Before you do, you should realize what a great deal the Zagi 400 is. Hobby People sells the Zagi 400 for $109. If you add up the cost of just the power package you come close to that price.

I am a THL Affecianato.

I have tried many a motor on the THL.

For light and powerful and cheap, try a Acro280BB (Hobby Lobby) or the equivilent Permex280BB. Be sure to use a 15 plus amp ESC. I am using a 20 amp Great Planes. Am using 8 S+R 575ma cells. You could use AR500 Sanyos, The AE 600s would work but would not keep up great. Awesome power and light. You need to advance the motor for reverse rotation. Running direct with 4.7x2.4 Graupner cam Folder.

For more money go for the astro 010, which is the same power with incredable run times. Astrobob is my hero for powering Zags. Oh yea the 010 is weigh lighter and you can use lighter batteries also too, ie 720ma NiMhs. I run Lithiums and get 45 minutes with no lift.

The 010 shaft is pretty thick, I would not think it a problem, tell me if I am wrong?

No problems to date, I am in pusher mode, and have a 4.7x2.4 Graupner Cam folder, so on landings it is folded or if you crash it just bends out the way.

Are there problems with bent shafts on the 010?
