oh I used 1.5 mm balsa wood for the flat part of the win and 1 mm balsa wood for the curve part. I will try another way becauso the flat part took an unwanted curve and I beleave that is not right

Anyone have any plans for these small dlg rc gliders? I would love to build one and I have an ar6400 just sitting around but I am not very good at free hand building. I need a plan to follow.

Lagarto:
Nice plane and nice construction of the wing.
And i want plans too

A Question. Do You finish the wing with dope or something?

a few pics of a 20" projected span design im currently building.

I have modified a Free Flight HLG called "Bliss" with a new Y-Tail and altered fuselage.

Looks like my AUW will be 35g. I guess that translates to approx 8g/DM^2.
Which is a just a tad heavier than yours.

Im using a Vapor DSM2 Brick and a Bahoma 90mah Lipo.

All RC gear will be fully enclosed bar the Lipo which is flush with the side of the fuselage for easy replacement.

Here is a couple of pics.
Hi!
I'm a new user of the forum and I'm very interested in this kind of mini DLG.
Could You pleas post the project of the BLISS?
Thank You so much!

hey Lagarto, very nice build, i saw your video and she flies great, it does seem a little heavy though...i have calculated for a 21inch wing span DLG, best weight is to keep it under .8oz, so i assume the balsa wings are a bit to heavy.
this is a .8oz 21inch wingspan same size as yours, its glide is softer, but its wings are blue core
Micro DLG Glider AR6400 21inch wing span (4 min 32 sec)

i think for a 30" DLG, balsa wings would be optimal.

cheers

What's the best way to go about adding small amounts of carbon tow for wing reinforcement?

i use Z-poxy and just go around the wing zigzag, seems to hold just fine, here is a picture below. if you take your time, you can actually burry the carbon tow so it doesnt extrude out, unless you apply a thin coat of tow so it sits flush with the wing surface.

What's the advantage of wrapping it in crosses as opposed to a strip down the length of the wing? Torsional rigidity?

i believe most pro DLG gliders will have both strip carbon and crisscross tow all over the wing, of course along with vacuuming and glassing etc.
if your dlg is a smaller size and not vacuumed, you can get away with just using tow, you can zigzag a bit more than i did in the pic for more rigidity, if your plane is micro sized, no carbon is needed.

here is a quick video of 30" dlg above

Description: so at work they were having to use a lot of super glue for something so I took like 20 of the plastic part of the packaging. Anyone else thinking easy canopy pod for gliders!!!
