Hi there,
this is my first time as a member and now i'll post some pics of my first airplane construction (before this one I made 5 zagis).
The project was made in Foam and design painted.

Wingspan:120cm.
Weight: 1214 gr.

This is a P3 cuted block foam.

After everything sandpapered, it looks cool.
The main idea is to make it in scale, as near as possible.
Just to serve as parameter, the Tucano is over the aquarium that is my Iguana´s habitat…

Looks nice, but ... this type of model (low wings) is not suited for learning to fly. Have a look at the beginners subforum for suggestions.

Here it is already with stabilizers, cowl and the piece that will be used to make canopy in vaccum form.
One interesting detail I tried to reproduce was the vertical stabilizer. As the original, instead of using depron, I made it on P3 to make it thicker, following the fuselage shape.

That looks great Tom, I love the tucano but we dont seem to see many models of them!

nice job with the sanding/shaping, if I attempted that I'm sure it would come out uneven

Hi,
The new pics.

Now, we go the preparation of the foam for the painting. I intend to use mass of shape, later painting with acrylic ink, some details will be with vinyl, beyond the decals that reproduced faithful. The mass will have to be applied with much criterion, therefore very it is weighed and if it will not be measuring the weight, will be able to make impracticable its project. The important one is to sandpaper sufficiently same that appears parts of the texture of the isopor.

this is the original pic, look the detail a yellow around propeller.It´s very cool! isn't it?

I selected the colors for all painting and made an modification in the Blue one, I opted in using a metallic blue color on the contrary the cloudy one of the original. The test was the painting of the Cowl.



Here already placed in the fuselage

Lot of job in the laterals side lightning Molds:
- I cut in the scale of the plane and applied in the airplane laterals sides.
