Hey Bill.
The superman flies surprisingly well. Real good for a laugh.. !
It is originally an RC design, with 2 motors for diferential thrust for steering/climbing.
I removed all the insides, mounted a home wound CDrom motor and some 4 gram servos and cut a couple of ailerons. Runs on a 2S-1320 (big but required for balance). He has over 1:1, so climbs like superman.. (he definately is not made of steel.)
It is pretty stable, but once inverted it has a high tendency to flip over to upright again, due to the molded in dihedral. This creates some cool muliple roll characteristics, not exactly axial.. lol It also tends to wobble a little in higher winds, so I added a clear plastic vertical fin right down the centre of his cape (top). made it quite a bit better.
I'll was meaning to post a few more pics on my blog, just never got around to it..
