HE-162...stacker's art!

i "obtained" this SWEEET He-162 that dave stack built, but never got around to flying...man, is it cool! and small! built around a edf40. extrememly well built, and light! its about 6-7oz RTF. was going to maiden this fri...but alas, went to run up the team losi 12mm motor in the fan, and the shaft is bent, and its running super hot, so i think it has a short. so i need to order a 12mm motor. what do you guys recomend for 2s? or i guess it could be 4s, since ive got 2 2s pack to use. but would rather keep it 2s. dont need tons of power, but 4oz of thrust would be good. anyhow, heres some pics! im open to suggestions on motors...

everyone's trying to go bigger and bigger with their planes... i personally like small planes... and I really wish more people would make quality warbirds (jet or prop) like this... A10, P51, corsair, F22, Su27, F15 etc

With 2s, the feigao 1230 5300 Kv should do the job and provide around 110 g of thrust... The Hyperion Y12L 5800 Kv seems to be a bit better, but i've never test it... The 12 mm Medusa seems to be a good motor too, but is also a amps eater (couldn't find any data with the EDF 40)... So, i'd go for the Feigao or Hyperion.

Looks good CN. I remember when Dave built that some years ago.
There are some small 3s packs that would run a 5866kv Feigao in that jet and do well. A 3s-480 TP is quite light, and will do the job.

I think I'm going to have to go ahead and build one too. If HL gets to sell the Xflight version, then I'm out, as I only pay GWS prices for molded foam NPS planes, and I only want NPS too. Don't need to pay for extra garbage I don't need.

goin' big dog mini status! check this tiny sucker out! a morphs edf 40 outrunner! perf is supposed to be pretty dang stout on this sucker. i'll be running on 2s though, trying to keep the weight down. thrust should be in the 4-5oz range, which should fly it well. the model is pretty dang small. check out stackers sweet build on this baby! magnet attached wing/fan access! pretty sweet eh! quality on this motor looks to be top notch! havnt ran it yet, waiting on rotors to show up hoping for a early morning maiden on fri before we leave for vacation!

Yep, if it is a EDF40 use the ARC 110 you'll never regret that! we use them all and there are reliable motors not burn one yet we push it but not smoke yet.

I'll have to look into that little Morph outrunner for the EDF40.
I took my old EDF55 scratchbuild, and fitted a new wing to it with EDF40 nacelles. The wing was actually made originally for another plane, but I was stealing the EDF55s for another project so I figured I'd fit it to the plane. The EDF40 wing looks great on this 262, and the whole plane looks better than my other decent flying EDF40 ME262. In flight, it has just enough power to barely stay in the air and is not really flyable, but would be excellent with a bit more power. Have shelved it, waiting for something like the motor you're using to come along.

Hey Bill, That use to be my motor and now c/n has it. Its a really cool motor. It will take 3s or 2s. There is a thread on it somewhere by Morph and it has all the requirements for it. I have an he-162 also,no where near as nice as stacker/c/n's. Nines a free air from czech rep. and its epp foam semi profile type. It stays cool unlike those tiny 12mm motors...feigo/medusa/losi types. I think two of those in your 262 on 3s would rock dude. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=770834 141 watts on 3s and 59,523 rpms in a gws 40mm isnt bad. 13.24 amps
Man Id like to see yours fly. You have any plans I could get off you to make one of those 262's??? It looks killer!!
