Use the link and the map to get directions to the field from your place!

Please, make your travel arrangements now and free up your last weekend in September for this great event.
The preliminary plans include a seminar on Friday morning or early afternoon, and then World Air Games (WAG)
selection contest for those interested in getting more points towards a free trip to Italy next year, or those
who just want to play along! The WAG event is a lot of fun, and you will not be disappointed even if you just do it
for fun. Saturday and Sunday we will have our usual hard core competition with the best pilots of the East Coast
and hopefully several from the West Coast! The Fly-Offs on Sunday are a huge spectacle for everybody.

Please, register early to reserve your frequency and show your support! We would love to hear from you!
Post your thoughts, suggestions, expectations, etc. in this thread.

How to get here-where to stay

OK. The nearest airport is Raleigh-Durham, about 1 1/4 hour drive from Wilson, NC. I am not sure this will be the cheapest place to fly into. Charlotte is about 3 1/2 hours away and Richmond, VA is about 2 1/4 hours. There may be others that are a possibility. When I can get to a new Wilson phone book I will post some of the motels-possibilities are in town and at exit 121 of I-95 (which gives you a 4-lane straight shot to the field on the 264 bypass).

OK Cali boys, let's get a head count of who's going!
I know Mike S is definitely going to this contest. Kai and Paul A are tentative...

I'm making my plans to be there with the Florida crew. I'm on 32, but can also fly on 47 or 52.

I'll be there! Had a blast last year. Is it alright if we bring Roy? He has been fitted with a satellite tracking collar, so I don't anticipate a repeat of last year's excitement.

See ya,
Tom

Tom, bring Roy and everybody else who is interested! Yes, the tracking device will definitely help!
We need to look into buying one of them for the club just for these special cases when somebody wonders out into the forest...

On a more serious note, the club now has a huge pole (60 feet?) for getting the models out from the trees. I hope we don't need to use it often, but it should reduce the need for tree climbing considerably!

aah yea, the last big HL contest of the year just got better. I like the addition of the WAG contest on Friday, that is a fun format and I gotta get more points to secure my invitation to Italy:-) Some of the West coasters are gonna come out to make sure we earn those awards on sunday afternoon. HLG seminar on Friday morning is always a great additon especially with such a talented instructor. BTW I am open for topic suggestions but I would like to talk about practicing for performance and the mechanics of a great launch. Maybe even how to work the treeline.

I am looking forward to it.

I think a great topic for a clinic would be for experienced/advanced pilots to fly the pupils ships or whatch them fly and attempt to quantify their short comings or possible improvements, setups etc. Kinda of a real life flight critique!

I am all for that Kevin. The only problem is with good attendance that may take to long. I think an inspection of everyones plane is a good idea and will put that into action.

Wow, Glad I read this! Gonna do some checking but I think this is doable. I'll be at TT on the 12th through 15th for the aerotow but may just call it a long vacation and head up to Wilson. Are there any good places to set up an RV near the field?

RV parking

There is Kampers Lodge of America on HWY 301 north that would be within 10 miles of the field. Haven't been there recently, but my parents used to stay there weeks at a time when visiting.
