No, it's a "special" one. Production will be similar to Exp/Shadow. We plan on making a few different versions/layups once the demand cools off. These custom colors will be an option, but not for awhile...

Today I made the first flight with my new Xplorer.
The model is the full-carbon version, with V-tail and weight 2040 grams.
The CG has been set at 103 mm.
It flew wery well in light wind condition but also at 6/7 pm, with no wind and no thermic.
The flight is very pleasant, always slow but also fast when needed.
I am very happy of the X-plorer,it will certainly be my main model in the next international competitions.

Just thought I'd let everyone know how my first week end of flying went on the new Xplorer.
I fly mainly a Shadow and Xpro but do have a PP that I flew again on the week end to compare the Xplorer to.
I first have to say Nan Models have produced a very good quality product that is of the highest standard. There is a great deal of likeness to the PP but is still a true NEW Nan model. I like the rudder on the Xplorer a lot better than the PP, there is no binding (the PP as a tendency for the wiper to pop out and bind the rudder when at full deflection)
I like the fact that Nan have switched to a top loading ballast tube.
I use 761 servo's throughout but use a JR3421 on the stab. Final weight came in at 74 1/2 oz cg 103mm

In flight I also found the rudder to have a lot more authority than the PP (I have 35mm each way set)
It slows down very well and handles slow flight good. There is a tendency to tip stall if you get too slow (really slow!) but it is very predictable with minimal loss of altitude, recovery is fast and I'm guessing with less than a 1/4 rotation to recover. I think it would also suit the person looking for there first moldie, having some very good and predictable handling characteristics
Its also very quiet in flight, compared to the Shadow and Xpro, and even the PP makes a little more noise (whistle) in flight
Lands true and straight with good control all the way down.
All in all I prefer the Xplorer to the PP, not that the PP is bad at all, I just like the Xplorer.
So don't wait, get your orders in with Bob at SoaringUSA, the Xplorer is going to be a hot seller and I think, just like the PP was (is), its going to be the plane to have!
Building tip. You can still use a single carbon rod to hold down the canopy, you just have to drill a small hole above the ballast tube.
Another tip for every one that's lost a wiring harness in the wing. Make up (or use an old) servo lead and tie a knot in it and when finished flying just plug into wing for storage, simple and works!


I'd also like to thank the German F3J team for giving me this Xplorer!

Could you tell us some more detailed infos relevant your Xplorer feeling ?
Especially respect to your Shadow feeling, may detailig the set up you were devloped up today, in terms of CG and Decalage (also the Shadow one's).
As you know, I'm anxiously waiting to fly my first Xplorer, despite I'm still flying my Shadow with lot of satisfaction, and despite I got a personal believing that such finest tuning on it, can imporove its exceptional performances/handling/competitiveness some more.

I hope you'll borrow me a couple of your Xplorer fly while mine will be delivered to me .

Again, in case you were the opportunity to test such PP up today, please tell also your feeling diversty between Xplorer anch PP .
