kyosho cessna 180

I've been flying "crunchy" 2m gliders for about a year now and just bought the kyosho Cessna. I want to learn to fly more convential scale-like power planes that can ROG. I've got a mirage 550 on a direct drive master airscrew motor w/ 8 cells (3000 nimh ) that I bought used. So far I'm 3 for four and tired of re-building. NO g/b. Not the plane's fault. Just lousy, well REALLY lousy landings. I've read the kyosho is underpowered with the stock motor. Has anyone tried it with the stock motor d/d on 8 cells? Maybe swap out stock for the master motor? 8x4 prop, not the little 7" that came with the Kyosho? Thanks.

Mine flies great stock. I use a 7 cell 1700 cell and get 10 min flights if not longer.

It will takeoff from pavement on 6 cells and a 9x6e prop with the stock motor, be sure to toe the wheels in for good ground handling. It will fly terrific with a MM 8x4 eprop direct drive, I was actually having longer flights with the MM but I bent the shaft on the motor, have it almost straightened out now. Went to the stock motor just to try it and it works ok with the 9x6. It is an easy plane to fly and shoot touch and goes, I have learned alot flying it in 2 weeks time. It gets a bad rap from people who buy and want it to fly out of the box with the 7x4 prop, spend 4 dollars and buy a 9x6 prop and it is a great plane.
