Hi quax,
I don't have access to my email account right now, but I sent you a message already. I am interested in the ATmega8L pwm and ppm code. If you still have my email please send them to that address, if not let me know I'll send you another message. Thanks again!

Quax,

Thank you for helping me get going with this exciting project. I would also be very happy if you could PM a copy of the Towerpro stuff to me too.

Also, could you tell me why you gravitated to the Mega88? Was it more OC or some other reason?

That is what I've been trying to find for a long time. Except for Walkera thread I don't spend time in Micro Heli. Thanks again Quax.

Quax,
Do you have the include file for pwm version? I am looking for the port assignments. If I free up the ICP pin where will it get the new signal from? Is there a webpage with your orginal ATmega8L files(ppm and pwm) for the normal flea circuit board?

Thanks,
Jared

Designing with microprocessors is fun, if inefficient for a Newbee

Just another point:

Mike (original poster) said he WANTED to design a DIY ESC.
Sounds like a hobby, on a hobby forum to me.
To that end:

SEARCH Myke Predko and PIC Microprocessors.
Also an EXCELLECT design package and simulator is PROTEUS.
these will lead the Curious to free C-Language Demo suites, cheap DIY programmers, and a whole new hobby getting these cool Systems-on-a-Chip to do your bidding. (insert evil genius laugh here)
For example; A PIC 12F675 has just 8 pins, yet has lots of code space, does 20 million steps per second, built in ADC and PWM and comes in DIP to develop and SMT to save grams later. Oh, and costs under 4usd. Just a suggestion to drive an ESC circuit. The BEC function is just the regulator needed to supply 5vdc to the microprocessor, so sharing it with the Rx is just a wire ;-)
Also, a previous poster mentioned IR Fet drivers - YES!!
You often must generate a voltage OVER the battery's voltage to achieve the low ON resistance of the FETs.
And yes, designing an ESC from scratch is a BIG undertaking - a whole proffesion to some.
Good luck to all who dare!
totally FUN!
Cheers!
