Tried night flying with glowsticks.
Bought some bracelet glowsticks from the $1 section at target.
Taped 1 color to the leading edge of the wing and another color to the fuselage. Adjust the fuselage one to get a decent center of gravity.
Looked kind of neat and flew good, loops and all.
Major drawback - the extra weight did some damage to the gear mount on a pavement crash.
Well now I can say I did a night flight. Back to fun I can actually see in the daytime. (As soon as I repair the mount.)

You might want to add links to the list of useful posts in your post #1. I just figured it out today.
1) click on the post number.
2) Right click on the thread title in the upper right. Copy the shortcut. That is a link to the post.

If you already knew...... Nevermind
That's an extremely helpful post you've got there. Thanks a bunch
The vapor's RX brick is bindable to any Futaba 2.4gHz tx, right?

To power your LED's did you just tap into the leads of the battery plug? Also, what size LED's did you use? I have some 5mm UV LED's I thought I'd try with a little bit of glow in the dark paint I got from a hobby shop. I was also thinking about just using a white LED. I can just about fly it in the dark with just the receiver light and I figured even adding a white LED lighting up the bottom of the wing would add enough extra light to do the trick. Any thoguhts?

I think the white LED will be best.

I made a jumper like Ched's but it's not working so I just tapped into the red/blk leads.

Never had much luck w/the UV's. They're bright but the beam needed to be more diffuse to illuminate more than a spot on the wing. Didn't use a resistor w/them because their forward voltage was 3.2V

Currently using red green and orange LEDs (ea wing and tail). The sizes are mixed (1 5mm and 2 smaller size)

It would be nice if Parkzone offered a jumper for the battery connection to allow a LED harness to easily be attached.

A quick photo of the current setup. The yellow glow is the rear LED shining on the concrete floor.

Thanks for the infor, I'll try tapping into the wires with a white LED to see how that works. I'll see if I can find a smaller LED, I think 5mm might be too heavy.

The missing channel, where did it go?

I spent some time this evening probing the Vapor DSM2 brick with my O'scope.

Found some interesting stuff, but so far no missing channel we can use.

I did find that there is in fact a nearly servo compatible signal being generated and its only present when the brick is receiving a signal.
It appears to have two values, roughly 1.0ms or 1.3ms. Its connected to both the main processor and the RF processor. With a fully charged battery the value is 1.0ms, with an 80% discharged battery its 1.3ms. It may have another value when the battery reaches the cutoff voltage but I haven't explored any further.
I was really hoping the rudder signal may have been present somewhere but so far I haven't found it if its there...

btw, main processor is an Atmel Mega48, RF processor looks like a Cypress CYRF6940 however that part doesn't appear to exist. Both of the processors have had the part # scraped off.

The pin connections appear to match up.

After reading through that info quickly,it looks like the power management uses the 1.3ms signal.

Thanks for the link.

What does the CYRF send to the Mega48?

If the CYRF outputs the full serial stream then possibly the Rudder channel can be constructed from it.
