Great job ,it looks awesome. Is that a steam engine you can buy somewhere or was it custom made?

That is gorgeous! It is like "art" in motion. With the details like the vise, hammer, and other tools etc. I would say you are giving Bob Herrera a run for the money!

Hello,

Well I do have to admit that one day I will be more than happy to launch a steam boat... but it is pretty damn expensive to buy a steam plant. I only know a couple of manufacturer :

http://www.monahansteammodels.com

http://fabrice.bretagne.club.fr/Index.htm

and of course :

http://www.stuartmodels.com/

The last time I have checked Monahan steam there was not such a great product line but only an amazing engine. There price seems to me pretty fair especially if we compared them with the french manufacturer and do the math to convert it in $$. Even thought I also like the french engine...well I have to admit that I am french so....

Live steam is not that expensive.

When I was flying model airplanes, spectators would ask how much it costs to get started, at the time I would tell them "about $500, but once you are hooked on the hobby the cost does not matter anymore"

Hi Guys,

I do have to agree with you, yes when you are hooked, it is just a matter of time to get what you want, I was just trying to say that the upfront cost is not exactly the same as for a simple electric model boat, 1 to 10 but there is a lot of way to get these boat running. Personally, I do not have the skills to make the engine but I can do the boiler by my self, I just have to get the safety valve and some other fittings that's all. In the mean time, I know some engine that looks good, that's seems pretty easy to build from a kit and that can be probably connected to one of the monahan boilers so .... that is just a matter of time....

My problems is that I usually build a boat in that way :

1) first dream

2) Start thinking

3) Start getting the money

4) Start building

5) Do not brake any equipment in the shop or you won't be able to finish it before you can afford the new machine....

I am in stage 5 right now, stage 3 too and also as always stage 1 .....

Maybe the big green and red guy (not the fake one from C... C... )is going to be nice with me this year ....

Sweet dreams guys

You are correct about the cost difference between electric and steam.
I find building boilers not that difficult also, and can be made quite inexpensively. Learn how to form copper, and silver solder and you are half way there. I can make my own boiler bushings, but these can be purchased also, and they are not that expensive.
I built the boiler for my Dianna steam launch for about $200 usd, if I had to buy a new one it would be $1000 usd. Most of the cost was a sight glass, pressure guage, and burner. Copper pipe I got from a plumber friend, copper is always expensive.

Absolutely beautiful work again Bernhard!!!

Fantastic detail!!!

Have you had an opportunity to run her in a lake yet?

You are right...once you have steam in your blood there's no going back.

Hui Nick,

I have to say that I really do like your product line, great looking equipment at a fair price considering all the man worked involved in these products.

Am I wrong or some of the steam plant looks like the "old" Cheddar Model products. That is not something bad for me, Cheddar as brought to the market some great products that have lead a lot of model builder to the steam "force" and I do hope that it will be the case for you guys. I am always incredibly impressed by all the steam powered boat or train that I see.

Sorry for my bad english

Have fun
