Successful Maiden!
Well the forcast was 20-35 and storms, great day for a maiden!
My son and I went out early before the wind picked up, I added a few clicks of up trim to help out with the launch, gave it 3/4 throttle and gave it a light toss. It flew right out in a gentile climb! I slowed it down and flew some figure eights, added a few clicks of right aileron trim and a few clicks of down trim. Flying just fine! The wind started picking up as the storm was getting close, so I did a few more agressive turns, split s, immelmans, a high speed pass, a low speed pass. It handles pretty well! It was definatly getting gusty so I brought it in about 1 foot off the ground and let it loose speed, it really slowed way down compared to what I was expecting and I finally flaired the landing and it came to a graceful stop on it's belly as planned. Totally uneventful! Perfect!
I'm proped with 9x4.7sf props on the 1000kv motors. turned out to be about 250 watts. This combination sure sounded busy so I'm going to try some 8x6sf props next and try to get it out when the weather isn't so iffy.
Well, I was worried about how it would fly and I'm pleased to say my worries are totally unfounded. It's quite docile. Take offs and landings were a breeze!
Now it's time to start the detail work. I like to get unknown planes up in the air and flying before I detail them.
