Still need to install the RX and tail servos, but thought I'd upload covered photos.

Thanks! I was a bit disappointed with the gold because it turns pretty transparent. But I do like the way the green from the top shows through it.

It is actually red because I blew it by doing the green first and then the gold. I should have done it the other way around. So, I used the same red from the head to cover the edges of the wing where the green wrapped around.

Looks good to me. Thought it was red by design ... Then I saw the thin red ring around the whole wing.

I had thought about building one of these with a 70 mm fan in each wing instead of the motor nacelles.
Enter it in a scale ducted fan contest for S's & G's .
PhotoShoped scale documentation and all. D)

The red is what makes it! Gives the whole plane a "Jurrasic Park" look! I would take it out on the field in a way that shows only the more "plain" top side. Let them see the underside on a pass and wallow in pride at their double take.

Okay, she's ready for maiden. I'm a bit apprehensive though. She seems to have a lot of torque wanting to roll her when I run the props up. What are y'all using for props? Anyone using a reversed prop? I can't find any 6x5.5 pushers. Thinking of going to a set of 7x5 props, one tractor and one pusher. Anyone tried this yet?

I have zero issues with torque. I'm running 8x6sf props with 1000kv motors on 3s. If I were to do it over, I would go for more speed. Prop down for the maiden. I think I maidened mine on 9x4.7 so I had plenty of thrust and no torque issues. Later I tried to max out the speed aspect of the plane.

I've just received my Marston Ptrerodactyl and will get underway with building very soon. I plan to keep a build log so will update here where I can, but I've also got a Blog where I will do the same

Something rather different on the building table.

Any tips would be welcome! Many thanks.

Enjoy your build. I'm anxiously waiting for a good day to maiden mine. I have the 80" on the shelf to build later. And you won't find better customer support than Ron anywhere!!

I finally got underway with the build the other night having completed a few other projects. I don't intend to post pictures and a build log on here or other similar forums as I'm going to do this on my blog. What I will do is provide an update that a new blog post has been posted related to this build.

So here goes, here's the first updated blog post!

So far so good! I have purchased the motors and ESC's and will crack on with this build now so expect some more updates very soon!

Thanks again and good luck with whatever you have on the project table!

Couldn't agree more. I was in a rush and I put the servos exiting on the TOP instead of on the bottom as shown on the plans.

BTW, How did everyone elses leading edge turn out? Mine looks square and rough. I haven't covered it yet so I might still have a chance to correct it. Is it just a matter of sanding it down to a smooth shape?

Also, has anyone put landing gear on the Ptero?
